The rookies, Kerrigan and Neild, looked good. Now we know why they kept Neild. YEA

Try to keep in mind that this is very much a work in progress. My feelings on the season haven't changed: anything less than 8-8 would be disappointing, but anything 9-7 or above is just icing on the cake.

Mainly Reed Doughty being a huge liability in coverage (Landry should fix that) and Graham Gano missing another FG.

Good start and the awful fumble aside we avoided mistakes. That alone is a huge step from the last decade. We missed a couple of wide open opportunities (2 overthrown and a drop) that would have made this game look drastically difference.

We are making progress.

A lot of good things happening out there on the field today...

First, I have to apologize to Ryan Kerrigan for being so down on his selection back in April. My bad. He played well today and had the one incredible play with the defended pass, the INT, and then the TD. Way to go young man.

Nice to see this team handle a little adversity and still come out on top. Down 7-0 and 14-7 they came back and when it got to 21-14 I actually felt somewhat comfortable that they could hold onto that lead or get it back if necessary.

Minimized the penalties and turnovers as well, which was very nice to see.

Stuck with the game plan and made it work.

There were a couple things that I was a tad disappointed in....

Sexy Rexy... Not a bad day overall but.... THROW THE ****ING BALL AWAY, DUMB***!!!!!!! He really has to get it into his head that if the play isn't there, and/or the pressure is on him; throw it to the guy in Section 115, Row J. Get rid of it already. Don't take the sack (or the fumble).

On the other end, the receivers HAVE TO CATCH BALLS when they hit the receiver in the hands. Espeically in critical situations. Receivers also have to make damn sure they have both feet in bounds before allowing themslves to step onto the sideline. Thankfully it didn't hurt us today, but it could have under other circumstances.

I'm still seeing more arm-tackling than I'd like. Especially in the secondary.

Speaking of which, I truly hope that once LL gets back we won't have to see any more of Reed Doughty. Good Lord did he look out of place out there this afternoon. Though I was impressed that Otagwe chased Nix down instead of just letting him run that ball into the endzone.

I was less than fully onboard with the lessez faire, sit back and let them come to us defense in the first half. Where the heck was that second half defense in the first half? Did someone wake them up at halftime or something? I know the game changed when we got the lead but I'm really hoping we don't play that same sort of loose D until we get a lead every week.

I also think that there's something missing from the running game right now..... Two things actually. 1 - Any sort of inside running game. Everything seemed to be from the Tackles outside. 2 - Any form of cut-back or misdirection run. I'm hoping that will be in the gameplan against Arizona.

All in all a great day, and I spent it with about 2 dozen+ other Skins fans at Goodbar in Boston. We OWNED the place from kickoff until the game was over. Had a great time.

Neild was awesome. Was he holding back in preseason? You are right, we know why we kept him over Anthony Bryant.

True - this product is not finished. These young guys will get better with each game and when Landry gets back? Look out!

Geez guys - this was a great way to start the season
HOWEVER - we are still a franchise in the making

let's not get too critical here - Grossman didn't lose the game - he's still just an OK QB
we are still an 8-8 franchise

I love the win and especially against the hated giants

ENJOY the moment
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Correction we are a 1-0 franchise. Compare 1-0 this year to 1-0 last year. Do you see a difference in this team than last. I agree with that there should not be Super Bowl talk, but let's call it want it really is a 1-0 team to start a marathon season.

The Giants plan was to take away the run and make Rex Grossman beat them with his arm. He did just that. Despite the occasional drops Sexy Rexy led the team on three sustained scoring drives and took some shots downfield. He was the man today.

We have four or five wide receivers that can make plays. We have three tight ends that can make plays. Those players will keep defenses guessing, which will help the running game. Things will get better, smoother going forward. Success will breed more success.

My impression of the game:

What struck me the most was that unlike last year or previous years the defense seemed to get stronger as the game went on. With Kerrigan's pick and TD it is obvious that the younger a defense is, the more stamina it has. The Giants Offense line started getting beat without blitzes at the end.

The offense and Grossman did very well but were more even keeled. There was no sense of a surge, just executing the game plan. I was surprised at the game plan. I expected more runs, but since the Giants were very weak at the cornerback position, you have to exploit weakness.

It was a good feeling that with 7 minutes left to play I was confident the team was going to win and not let it come down to the last minute. Last year the Skins would have lost this game no matter how many Giants were out with injury. They didn't play down to their competition , but set the tempo.

With the O line blowing the Giants off the line on the last Redskin series, shouldn't we be using a little more fullback leading the running back off tackle plays? I know the stretch play is a staple of ZBS, but when it isn't working all game, try something different. The Giants knew we were coming up the gut and couldn't stop it and if that corner hadn't have come from the side, Hightower gets the first down.

the only thing is that the stretch play set's up the play action pass which is the two main plays in the WCO.

I was impressed that we not only didn't surrender the lead we took into the 4th, but actually put the game away and gave no quarter. A full game effort, playing to win, not to avoid losing. I think Gano will settle down and be ok. I hope that Williams hits his groove and SOON.

All in all, an outstanding start to the season.

You have to be impressed with 4 sacks by our front 3. Last yr, that was almost a season's worth.

I loved that we went for it on 4th and 5, and made it easily, but when the G-strings went for it on 4th and 1, we totally stuffed it. ROTFALMAO

When they did that, you knew at that point that Shanahan was not accepting a loss... and that he was very comfortable that they had a 6 yard play in their pocket.
