Nice piece. Most of the sources used for the article are annonymus, but to me it's pretty clear that our old man Vinny Cerrato has a big axe to grind at Redskins park.Skinsfan55 wrote:Excellent read from the Post:

Zorn obviously gave Wise some good info for the piece.

Amazingly, my estimation of Snyder could get lower, and it did after reading that piece.
Getting Shanahan was the right thing to do, but everything about his method for doing it is just . . . creepy. And all of the lies along the way. That man must be living in a world he constantly has to spin to keep things from catching up to him.
Shanahan comes across as a peaceful Zen master in comparison. Thank God that even with Snyder's incompetence we ended up with him.

Portis just dropped of the charts for me in the respect department. I always knew he was a loudmouth. But this is just a total douche move. He and the Danny deserve each other.Zorn and Portis had clashed repeatedly during the season, but as the Redskins prepared to play the San Francisco 49ers on the final day of the season, Snyder received a call from Portis’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus. He was told Portis would no longer play for the Redskins if Zorn wasn’t fired, according to Snyder’s close associates.
Zorn and Portis had exchanged words in practice that week when Portis refused Zorn’s request that the running back take his hands out of his pocket during a drill.
Snyder was ticked, not just about Zorn’s latest blowup with Portis but with the overall course of the season. Zorn had assured him things were improving as they sat next to each other on the team flight to San Francisco. Fed up, Snyder got off the phone call from Rosenhaus and told Cerrato: “Vinny, you handle this. Fix it. Tonight.”
That night, the eve of the Redskins’ final game of 2008, Cerrato summoned Zorn to a ballroom used by the team at the San Francisco Four Seasons hotel. Zorn brought Sherman Smith, his offensive coordinator and only genuine confidant on his staff. “Vinny kept telling Jim to apologize,” Smith said in a telephone interview. “And Jim was like: ‘For what? I just wanted him to take his hands out of his pocket.’ ”
When Portis joined the three later that night, no one shook hands. Zorn was dumbfounded he had been ordered to be part of a kiss-and-make-up session with a player the night before a game.

Of all the players in this scenario, how is it Portis for whom you lost respect? Unless you already had 0 for each of Snyder and Vinnie. Jesus Christ, what a sh*& show! Portis must have been given the express indication that he could take his complaints straight to DS year prior to this event. I don't blame Portis for exhausting all recourse to right a wrong IN HIS MIND. Yeah, he was in the wrong, no doubt. But the enabling by DS to even allow Portis' to believe he could act that way is what shocks me. Oh and vinny is an a$$.Deadskins wrote:Portis just dropped of the charts for me in the respect department. I always knew he was a loudmouth. But this is just a total douche move. There is no doubt in anyone's minds that Cerrato & Snyder are responsible for the failure of this franchise over the fast 12 years
NO player should be able to influence player or coaching decisions - EVER
there is ZERO occasion or reason for a player to cross that line - NO MATTER HOW BAD THINGS ARE
I was a big Portis fan but I have to admit that I lost whatever respect I had for him as a player when we started to hear that he was "trying to help the franchise" by talking directly with Dumb & Dumber
Portis deserves the ridicule he should get from other players - stupid is as stupid does
boy oh boy, are we lucky that Shanahan wanted to come here & insisted on being able to run things here his way

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
This in a nutshell WAS the problem. Certain players had a direct line to the owner who catered to them instead of supporting his coach. The players morphed into spoiled brats, and the coach into an ineffective figurehead. I place this disfunctionality squarely on the Danny and his enabler. the Vinny for allowing this player behavior. Were the convicts running the prison?Deadskins wrote:Portis just dropped of the charts for me in the respect department. I always knew he was a loudmouth. But this is just a total douche move. Since then, the Danny has done three things right:
1. Hired Bruce Allen
2. Hired Shanahan
3. Let Allen and Shanahan run things
Lets hope he keeps doing #3.
I think its interesting to note that while gifted, the prima dona - CP, is still unemployed this season.
Exactly! But it's more than just Portis having a direct line to the Danny. It's his attitude that he can defy the coach and have his hands in his pockets during a practice drill. Then, to have his agent contact the team demanding a coaching change? Then, to demand an apology from Zorn for daring to ask him to take them out? Zorn should have benched his ass, and fined him for conduct detrimental to the team, consequences be damned.emoses14 wrote:Of all the players in this scenario, how is it Portis for whom you lost respect? I have ZERO respect for Snyder especially as far as how badly he has 'managed' the Redkins
why did this reporter find it necessary to speculate "Snyder’s confidantes still marvel at the impulsive decision, yet they say it encapsulated the way in which they often did business."
I mean - if this was how things happened "often" - why would you "marvel at the impulsive decision"
almost EVERYTHING this stupid guy did with the Redskins was "impulsive"
I guess the 'story' looks a little better if we make sure that readers who do not know that Snyder's an idiot are reminded of this
Like I said, I do not like Snyder AT ALL but I actually have less respect for reporters who like to pile it on EVERY chance they get

Agreed, but with additional caveat that the only reason Zorn should have still been at the meeting with Vinnie by the time Portis showed up was to quite literally laugh directly in his face, before Zorn benched him and fined him.Deadskins wrote:Exactly! Funny how a man can talk about being respected as a man without first learning to give that same respect to others.

There is no doubt that by the time this 'reportedly' happened, Jim Zorn knew exactly where he stood with both Snyder and Cerrato
What's possibly worse is that he also knew that there were players that knew this too
I'm sure Portis was not the only player that 'talked' with both Snyder & Cerrato

For the numrically challenged, tht's about .85 acres. Bigger than most lots.PulpExposure wrote:The thing I pulled out of that article is that Shanahan has a massive house.
