Cooley lost 20 lbs....

Post by tribeofjudah »

He could be more fit, more agile, lighter on the feet....? Is this good or bad for TE in today's NFL....?

He admits he's a slow white guy.....hahaha

Cooley on Friday stepped on the scale at Redskins Park and weighed 234 pounds. That’s 20 pounds lighter than he’s ever been during his seven-year pro career.

He always wanted to shed some weight, and his injury provided the opportunity. He was able to focus on eating healthily and exercising without worrying about having enough energy to practice.

Maintaining his strength was essential, and Cooley believes he did.

“It’s a huge benefit to me,” he said. “The responsibilities that the tight end has in the run blocking scheme area little bit different because of the zone blocking. It’s more about quickness and being able to get your hands on guys and be able to stay with guys.

“I think I’ll be completely fine in the run game. I think I’ll feel better when I’m running routes. I’m assuming I’ll have more endurance taking 20 pounds of weight off.”

As for his footspeed, Cooley cracked: “I’m a slow white guy, so we’ll see.”

"Slow white guy" or not, he is still a top five TE. Throughout his career he is consistently in the top five or ten in catches and yards. Their are only a few TE that are as consistently good. Gates, Gonzales, and Whitten are just about it. Their are a few younger TE that are flashier and haver had a good year or two, but only the three I named are in his league.

I don't think the 20 lbs will help our hurt his performance, but maybe the reduced weight will help his knee hold up.

In the Post he stated he weighs the same as Shannon Sharpe. Hopefully the weight loss will improve his game and keep him healthy.

I agree - I think Cooley's going to have an astounding year, if not his best EVER
however - Fred Davis, #83, will be the MVP of our offense
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Imagine his career stats IF the Skins had had a REAL QB.

No, he will be even better when we get our franchise QB.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

just 1 game, but a great way to start a season

Cooley looked like he stole a WR's body.
