Apparently, the Shannies liked what they saw against us in the Bucs game.

Redskins signed QB Jonathan Crompton to the practice squad.Crompton has NFL-caliber physical tools, but he's never been able to put it together mentally. Washington is a good landing spot, with only Rex Grossman and John Beck ahead of Crompton. Crompton appeared in only one preseason game, completing 12-of-22 passes for 149 yards in the finale.

Bucs signed QB Jonathan Crompton, formerly of the Patriots. He's likely no more than a camp arm behind Joshes Freeman and Johnson and third-stringer Rudy Carpenter, whom the Bucs are said to be high on. Crompton was a good-looking prospect after a big senior year at Tennessee, but two quality organizations (San Diego, New England) have already given up on him.

Patriots waived QB Jonathan Crompton.A fifth-round pick by the Chargers last year, Crompton was signed to a reserve/future contract in January. It didn't take Ryan Mallett long to bypass him on the Patriots depth chart.

This was a surprise to me, as I thought Chappel was going to be on the PS.

Yeah, because god knows all of the best QBs in the league are young guys.

I never said that. It's a matter of planning for the future.

So you think the guy we just signed to our practice squad after he was released by his third team in less than two years is part of our long term strategy?

Who freaking knows, man. He could be the next John Beck! :)

I still don't understand why he didn't get any playing time other then a couple of hand offs and kneel downs.

Was Keiland Williams eligible for the Practice Squad? If he was, I'm surprised they didn't sign him to the PS. Saw earlier today where the Lions had claimed him.

I think he was ineligible because he played most of the season last year.

I don't know anything about him. Among Beck, Rex & this kid, who is most likely to be playing 5 yrs from now?

I got to see this kid in college being a UT fan here in Tennessee and he definately has all the tools but still has not put it all together. I did see that he beat Tom Brady in several of the QB drills in the spring and that show he can do it but unless we have a shrink on staff that can fix the head problems he will be nothing more than on the practice squad IMO. Good Luck Crompton and welcome aboard!
Hey Griswold, where do you think your gonna put a tree that big?

He isn't PS eligable because the Lions claimed him on waivers and put on their 53 man roster. Appears to be the backup in Det.

If a player is cut, they must clear waivers to be put on PS. Also must be in the league for less than 3 years I believe.
