I think it's smart. If your two guys goes down, you're going to lose the game anyway. (Get someone on offense who can handle giving handoffs and throwing flat passes and make them the emergency 3rd QB for the rest of the game. Then look for some solution during the week.)
But having that extra WR (like Banks) or RB, or whatever, can really make a difference.

Yep. If you have a youngster you're grooming who wouldn't make it to the PS because they'd be picked up then it makes sense to keep a third. But other then that you're pretty much going to find a free agent as good as your #3 anyway and you're not tying up a roster spot.
