I like what I saw on offense, but the defense needs some work...actually a lot of work...

True, but we also had 4 starters out. Fletch, Landry, Wilson, Carriker and Jenkins went out early, but, as you said, we still need some work.

I am not sure that we can fix the Rocky situation in pass coverage. Riley is not much better than Rocky in that pass coverage. Don't know if Fox is any better in pass coverage either.

Hall, will not be fixed, because he is an over confident corner who relied on speed to be a shut down corner in college, but refuses to work on his footwork in the pros and has not accepted that his speed is matched in the NFL. With Hall, we get what we get - a super playmaker and pretty good cover guy who will get beat from time to time.

Not sure why we allowed Rice 70 + yards and a 5 yard average. Pass rush is not consistent - I don't like three man rushes - ever. Rak got a sack, but it was due to Doughty rushing along side him and Oher had to choose which one to block. I want to see Orakpo beat his man so much that he needs to be double team. Someone check me on this, but Kerrigan has more moves to the QB than Rak.

All in all, the D stopped them when it counted. After three games using the Ravens D as a comparison, I would say that we are looking good and in position to fix some things that can be fixed.

Didn't get to watch this game, but saw some highlights. We scored BIG for a change.

Austin stood out as WR - I really like that kid. Both QBs did well.

My best friend is a Ravens fan and I made him leave after the Ravens failed on 4th down in the redzone right before the 2 min warning. I figured the rest of the game would be us running the ball and killing the clock.

I know he's going to make a stink about missing the win, but how was I supposed to know we'd fall for the bootleg, what, 3 times in one drive? They need to get better at defending the bootleg if were gonna stand a chance against Vick or even Young this year. Regardless, the Redskins still won the game of starters vs starters.

The funniest thing was that the whole night I was watching it on a local channel and they kept advertising the game as Monday Night Football! The entire night they kept trying to convince us that it was Monday, and with all the scoring in the game, it kind of looked like MNF. They even played the MNF song between commericals. It was a riot.

I didn't know we had 4 starters out early as I didn't tune in until the 2nd qtr, and that would explain some of it, but the secondary just plain looks bad. Hall seems to get beat after each time he makes a good play, almost one for one. Orakpo and Kerrigan are beasts and hold a lot of promise, but the D coord's gonna have to figure out how to get some kind of a pass rush (right now they're basically getting none) without blitzing. The Skins have had the no pass rush problem for years now and it's gonna continue to bite the team in the azz until they figure it out...no pass rush + a lousy secondary = many losses....

The REAL KEY is that the Redskins players did not give up anything and the Redskins did not lose

The REAL Redskins played well against a pretty good Ravens squad - we both had some players not in the game

At the end, there were some players on the field that happened to be wearing Redskins uniforms and Ravens uniforms - these guys were looking for 'opportunities' to show some other franchises that might be looking for some help - most of the players in Redskins uniforms at the end will NOT be Redskins for very long

Redskins starters played well Harbaugh said before the game that they were "game planning" for the Redskins - too bad guys - we outplayed you
The good Ravens' players and coaches have got to be VERY disapointed today
the bad Ravens' players beat some guys in Redskins uniforms that will not be Redskins for much longer

Curious about your friend's take on the game. From what I am reading in the Baltimore papers, they are saying stuff like we are used to hearing. O line needs work. D line needs work. Secondary allows too many plays. Flacco in inconsistent. Reading other folks papers puts our negaitves into perspective.

Well I can tell you that Kerrigan did get some plays in but he needs to work more on his blitz skills if he's going to fit into Hasletts defense. He jumped the line like 3 times trying to bring pressure. Can't get too upset about it, though. Rookies make mistakes and you might as well make them now when nothing counts.

After getting crushed in the first quarter, the Ravens did the same to Washington in the second quarter. After a horrible start (3-for-6 for 26 yards) on the game's first three possessions, Flacco started getting time in the pocket to hit the deep throws and went 7-for-9 for 134 yards on his next two drives.

The Ravens did need some help on their first scoring drive. The Redskins' Lorenzo Alexander ran into punter Sam Koch, extending the possession for the Ravens.

I never got to see the replays of that running into the kicker by Alexander. It looked like he was blocked into the punter - Anyone have a take on that?

Well he did tell me that he thought their offensive line looked soft except when they were sending Boldin deep. He was also upset about them not calling any audibles when we were sending an all-out blitz. I was actually surprised at that myself. Not one audible.

I watched it again about 10 more times, I could swear that Kerrigan was lining up to nail Flacco. Watch his head going side to side, watching for Hall and watching for Flacco and all of a sudden Flacco slows down and Kerrigan looks to see where Flacco is to time his hit and "Pfoof!" Flacco is not going to meet his fate - a perfect peel back block from Kerrigan - that would have been sweet. Flacco saw Hall trying to cut back and seemed as shocked as Kerrigan was, as he couldn't get a good grip on him. Meanwhile #84 comes flying up and Flacco's horse collar actually seems to save Hall from 84 getting him. Hall was lucky to still get into the end zone and Poor Kerrigan, he never was able to hit anyone. I dunno, to me, he should have followed his blocking - a fundamental football philosophy.
