LaRon Landry - DB - Redskins Updating a previous item, Redskins SS LaRon Landry admits that he could require Achilles' tendon surgery next offseason it the injury doesn't respond to alternative treatments and rehab. Rich Campbell of the Washington Times has been legitimately concerned about the injury, suggesting Landry will try to play but won't make it through 16 games. Landry insists he's not worried about a new contract despite the iffy status of his heel. "We'll discuss that when the season's over, I guess," Landry said.
I hope he can play THROUGH a good part of the season and into the playoffs....PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS? Wishful thinking never hurt, right?

I'm confused, he never got surgery for the injury while he was out for the last couple of games? Is that typical? To see if it goes away and then get surgery if it doesn't?

I had a minor tare at the base of m my calf right above the achilles. The doctor said that it was a minor tare but I was extremely lucky, because it was the type of tare that usually resulted in a torn achilles.
I didn't have surgery and just had rehab. It hurt like hell for 2 to 4 months of I tried to jump or run and took over six months to feel ok and a year before I completely trusted it.
So what I see with LL is very similar to what I experienced. As far as surgery for him in the future, I would think that would only happen if he completely separates his tendon.
I'm not a Dr, just someone with experience with a similar injury.

Understood. I guess he is doing what you did too, but I would just wonder, if it didn't tear, how about would they go to get it to feel good. Just give him shots?

Treat it like any other pulled muscle. Rest, ice, rehab, and lots of motrin (or stronger - maybe a steroid).

I used to "hang out" with a physical therapist for the Denver Broncos. Not only are all of these guys perverts, they fake injuries like mad. This is probably something he can play though easily but he will fake it to make excuses for bad performance.

I seriously doubt that LL is faking this injury. It is a serious injury and I just can't believe that LL would be the type to fake anything.
Redskins SS LaRon Landry says he "felt a little pop" when he injured his right hamstring last week.
It should be noted that players coming off Achilles' injuries like Landry often experience problems in other areas of the leg if they return too soon. Per the Washington Post, "now Landry's availability for the regular season opener could be in doubt." He's a red-flag pick in all IDP leagues.
probably wants a lot of money to pay for pain killers and whatever else these spoiled brats take
some fans here have NO CLUE
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

NOT GOOD! I honestly don't expect LL to make any impact this year. Should've had surgery last season, he might have been better off.
I'm sure that if he and his orthopedic surgeon could read the future, that might have been the proper course. Unless it's clear that conservative measures won't work, that's always the way to go.
