PUP list not an option for Banks, Kelly
When I posted my articles on roster projections (offense, defense), some of you suggested alternatives that involved putting players, particularly Brandon Banks and Malcolm Kelly, on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list and then seeing if they were good to go six weeks into the season.
There is a problem with such plans. Kelly and Banks can't be placed on the PUP list, nor can any other player who was not on the list at the start of training camp.
That means that the only players who can start the season on the PUP list are LaRon Landry and Kareem Moore. No player who has practiced, even briefly, can go on the list.
The only options for Kelly, Banks, and any other players besides Moore and Landry, are to make the roster, go on season-ending injured reserve, to get cut.
