Four days before their preseason opener against Pittsburgh, the Redskins have released an unofficial depth chart. Emphasis on “unofficial.”
But that won’t keep us from analyzing who is first-, second-, third- and even fourth-team on the depth chart.
The initial thoughts:
* Quarterback Rex Grossman is listed first, followed by John Beck. Not a surprise considering Beck has been slowed the last few days by a groin injury.
* Jabar Gaffney is listed as first-team receiver along with Santana Moss. Rookie Leonard Hankerson is second team ahead of second-year player Terrence Austin. The impressive rookie Niles Paul is fourth team. Behind Moss on the chart is Anthony Armstrong and Donte’ Stallworth.
* Running back Roy Helu has the early edge over Evan Royster for the second spot behind Tim Hightower. Most of us figured that Helu and Royster were battling for one roster position.
* Brandon Banks is listed as first-team at both punt and kick returner, a mild surprise considering he’s missed practice time. Judging by the chart, Banks better make things happen on special teams – he’s fifth-team at receiver.
* Keyaron Fox has been in town less than two days and is already second-team inside linebacker behind London Fletcher.
* Even though Rob Jackson was taking the first-team snaps when outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan was banged up, Jackson is listed as Brian Orakpo’s backup. Lorenzo Alexander is Kerrigan’s backup.
* Mike Sellers is listed as the fourth-string tight end. Yeesh, that can’t be good for the veteran’s roster status.

Whatever it means:
Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron,
so one person sharpens another.
so one person sharpens another.
We're looking at 11 new starters! 12 if you call Rex a new starter or if Beck takes over.

This franchise needs a massive turnover in players
I hope that NONE of the 5 linemen that started on the O line is left from the opening day of 2009

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Shanahan says he has a ways to go and I agree, but DJ Gomes has been best DB I have seen last two days. #Redskins
