A great Front Office in PHILTHY...???

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

A great Front Office in PHILTHY...???

Post by tribeofjudah »

How is it that the Iggles.....

1. get a nice draft
2. get some Great free agents
3. get many, many great pick for NEXT draft

Nnamdi, Cullen Jenkins, Cromartie??? Are you kidding me?

Why did they do so well compared to other teams? How did we compare?

NFL Network folks said that the Jets would seem to be the logical choice for getting a ring, but there is the Steelers and Pats that they have to contend with to get to the Super Bowl. They didn't name names in the NFC, but they concluded that there aren't as many teams in the NFC to get through to get to the Super Bowl. Therefore Philly is considered the easier road to a ring then the Jets. This discussion came out of the Asomugha decision. My guess is once Asomugha signed Cullen decided to there. Rogers-Comartie was part of the trade so he ended up there. Young was going there anyway probably because Vick lobbied for him. Plax probably hasn't signed because they don't want him.

Did they really do all that well or did they pull a page out of Vinny's playbook

They went into the offseason needing to help for the right side of the O-line, starters and backups. They needed a corner and a safety, and a couple of OLBs and at least one DT. they were hurting for depth at RB, safety.

They gave up DT Brodrick Bunkley for a 5th rd pick next year, lost both their kicker (Akers) and their punter (Rocca), along with DT Jeff Owens, CB Gerard Lawson, WR Jeremy Williams, DT Jeremy Clark, and FB Leonard Weaver.

Danny Watkins (1st rd) and Julian Vandervelde (5th rd) will battle for the RG spot but they still will have to find a RT. Vick being left handed means RT should have been a priority. they added three LBs in the draft but only one (Brian Rolle) that plays OLB and he was dradted in the 5th rd.

They signed a 29 yr old dE (Babin),Traded a 26 yr old QB for a 2nd rd pk next year, and replaced him with a 28 yr old nut job (Young) in order to pick up a 25 yr old corner(DRC) with only 2 years left on his contract, then spent $60 million to get another CB (Aso) that just turned 30. they also signed a 30 yr old TE (Lee) and a 27 yr old WR (Higgins)that has caught 4 TDs in as many years, and a 31 yr old DT (Jenkins) that hasn't played a full season in 5 years got $25 million.

Granted they still have time to address the RT spot and maybe bring in a vet or two to help on the offensive line.

But it sure looks like they're trying to buy them a ring, oddly enough the coaching staff is in the last year of their contract .

They might want to go ahead and pay DeSean Jackson so he can get into camp, considering Maclin is still unable to practice.

What do you get when you pay a bunch of aging players a lot of money and throw them on the field together?

We all know the answer to that one don't we.

^^^^^ good analysis, but Vinny and Danny BOY could never have secured these draft pick:

AdamSchefter Adam Schefter
As if they needed the help, Eagles now have two 2s, two 4s, two 5s and two 6s in 2012 draft. Talk about a well-run organization.5 hours ago Favorite Retweet Reply

That's true and if the could Vinny would just trade them away as quick as he got them.

Then again it's on less pick than what MS had this year and only two more than what MS has next year.

But are the picks MS had nearly as good, in terms of round? Actually, do you happen to know what picks we do have/round as of right now? Personally, I think that factors largely into what we should be thinking of this current approach to the season for the skins. I too would like to see about 3 OL signings (inclusive, hopefully of Brown at a reasonable price), before I'm hooked on their plan.
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

They've got better picks....
We have 2 fours, 2 fives, and 2 in the six.

Thanks 1niksder.

Nevertheless, I am happy that my team is doing things the way they are, having 10 pics in the draft next year is great. The Eagles are ahead of us in terms of an organization and comparing the 2 to each other is simple. Our team will be where it needs to be soon enough.

They had more picks than the Skins this year on draft day too. After the draft was over we had selected more players than they had.

UPDATE:

Maclin is sicker than previously reported and D Jackson doesn't plan on ending his holdout
