Grossman to re-sign and to BATTLE!

Post by spudstr04 »

Kyle Shanahan said he's still expecting Rex to re-sign and is expecting a full blown competition between he and Beck.
-Per Washington Post's Mike Jones

This really isn't breaking news, but just wanted to know what you guys expect once Grossman comes to camp and faces off with Beck.

Grossman can't practice until 8/4 due to that being the beginning of the league year. Same goes for any player who has a "NEW" contract. Players we've acquired through trade and have same contract do not apply.

Just saw where NFL Network already has Grossman re-signed with the Skins, but I don't have any links to confirm.

I still cannot quite believe this team is going into the season with Beck, Grossman and that kid from Indiana. I am going to blindly trust Shanny and Jr. Shanny on this but it is hard.

I still want them the trade for Kyle Orton.

Miami signed Matt Moore so Orton is still available.....

What could it hurt? If the price is right

Exactly - maybe we could resign CP and package him, Grossman and a pick for Orton.

Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan fully expects free agent Rex Grossman to re-sign and compete with John Beck for the Redskins' starting QB job.

In other words, Redskins shouldn't hold out hope for a Kyle Orton trade. Due to the NFL's new procedural rules, Grossman can't practice until Aug. 4. There's no hurry to sign this week, but it also leaves Beck with a one-week headstart. "I think it will be a great battle," Shanahan said of Becksy vs. Rexy

Redskins are not going to TRADE for Orton... I'm sure they plan to keep all picks.

Kyle Orton's $1.5 million roster bonus kicked in at 4pm

Broncos won't trade him after making that payment.

Rex will do fine. I expect him to be the starter. Lots of people do not think he can succeed but I still do. He has a nice touch and can lead a receiver. He can and will turn the ball over and this is why our defense needs to get to mediocre at least. Had our defense played to the level of 15th ranked we could have won a few more games.

Vince Young's one-year deal with the Eagles will be worth up to $5.5 million. What's Grossman going to ask for?

Don't know, but would say one year between $3-5 million.

Will the John Beck/Rex Grossman QB battle be televised or will we all have to sign up for a subscription to "Bumfights"?

It is a little embarrasing, don't you think? Maybe it is because I live in Philly but I have no come back to people in regards to the QB situation.
