Donte Stallworth Agrees to Terms with the Skins

We just drafted a healthier version of Rice in Hankerson.

His good demeanor and behavior following the case is why he got a 30 day sentence.

His paying the victim's family also had A LOT to do with it. Without that payment he does time for this. With that said, I lived in Miami and know exactly where this happened. With the way the accident was described by the police, Stallworth could have been stone cold sober and the result woud've been the same. Just an awful place to try and cross what is essentially a highway.

AA did some nice things last year but he is far from proven and Hank is going to be way behind due to the lack of OTAs. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Stallworth stuck and played significant minutes for us this year.

Like when we got Malcolm Kelly? I liked the Hankerson pickup, he hasn't proven anything yet. Rice got hurt once, big whoop, itll probly make him cheaper.

Did he spend time with Zorn in Baltimore?

"Obviously, they probably have one of the best fanbases in the country. I remember, every time I came to play the Redskins, that was one of the biggest things I'd notice, how big their fanbase was. It's amazing to be there," he said. "I'm not really familiar with the Redskins just yet, but with all of the pigs masks and the burgandy and yellow, I'm excited to be a part of it."

Yes, paying the money staved off a civil suit, but Donte was more than willing to pay money to the family and rigthfully so, when one takes out the bread winner of a family. He also had to pay fines, donate money to MADD and pay court costs. He never balked at any of this. No doubt his demeanor and the "unusual" circumstances of the case cited by the prosecutor led to his light sentence.

You got a good point here. Shanny started out with the vet, Galloway, last year. This is not to say that Stallworth will end up like Galloway and not produce. I think that Donte has more upside than Galloway had last year.

Used to be able to see the spot where the accident happened from my office before I moved to ATL. CanesSkin, couldn't be more right. The McArther is a highway. Even the damn cross walks (all 2 of them I believe) are not safe to cross in. The only downsides to this signing relate to his skill or lack thereof, not his character.

The NFL is full of one-year wonders and players who go through sophomore slumps. I'm not saying that AA can't replicate his 2010 season, but until he has more a track record we don't really know what we have with him.

Lol, Dont give Snyder any ideas, He May Dip our uni's in gold leafing or something. I'm glad to hear Donte is excited what with the "pigs" masks and rocking our Fuchsia and Musturd colors.

Started two years as a WR and CB at Grant Union (Del Paso Heights, CA) HS As a senior, he earned All-State honors as a DB and USA Today honorable mention All-America Voted California Player of the Year in 1998 As a senior, helped lead his team to state semifinals with 56 receptions for 1,289 yards and 23 TDs On defense, registered 77 tackles and 4 INTs School compiled a 24-3 two-year record, reaching the state finals his senior year Track participant in sprints and jumping events Full name: Donte’ Lamar Stallworth Has recorded 296 receptions for 4,383 yards (14.8 avg.) and 32 TDs Pulled in a career-long 84-yard TD catch in 2006 with the Eagles Posted a career-high 8 TD receptions in his rookie year with the Saints In 2002, became the first rookie to catch a TD pass in his first four NFL games since 1982 (Washington’s Charlie Brown set the league record with a TD reception in his first five contests) Owns 13 career 100-yard receiving games

Scouting:

Stallworth has good height and a nice frame. He isn't a burner but has above average speed. He plays faster than his 40-yard times indicate. He doesn't have good acceleration, as it takes him some time to get into full speed. However, once he kicks in his second gear, he is gone. He has big, soft hands and will make the difficult catch. Stallworth is an excellent athlete and will out jump defenders for passes. He runs his routes well, though he does round them off at times. He needs to be more explosive coming out of his breaks. He does a good job of getting separation from defenders. He is big enough not to get jammed and can run past defenders who are playing soft.

I bet he sees a lot of snaps.

The payment did much more than help stave off the civil suit, it was one of the main factors in Stallworth getting a favorable plea deal from the DA's office. But, like I said earlier, this was ultimately a tragic accident and I don't think that character is any concern with him.

I agree with you on this. AA showed flashes but people are in my view way too sold on him. For sure we should keep him and give him chances to show he's the real deal, but he's not there yet.
