“For my Facetime, 2011 is different than 2010. For those who want to sit back and dwell on what happened last year, so be it. But 2011′s going to be a special season. A season in which I feel that I’ve prepared myself well — not just conditioning and strength-wise, but most importantly getting back to the fundamentals. And I look to display that in the 2011 season. And for those who feel like it can’t be possible: I’ll prove you wrong.”
Why did McNabb choose to use the word, "fundamentals?" Isn't this along the lines of what the Shanahans were stressing with him, i.e. footwork?
What happens if McNabb is not traded as we go into pre-season?
Will he be allowed to showcase himself for other teams or showcase himself to win back the starting job?
Is Donovan's re-emergence coming on the heels of Bruce Allen's, "We would make the move again for Donovan" statement just a coincidence or has Kaz known something all along that most of us have a hard time believing will happen?
I have read all of these articles. I am not sure that McNabb is coming back to the Redskins. It is about 99% against -1% return. What I saw last year was vintage McNabb. Under and over thrown passes, decision making. yes, he can make plays but I think his time is past. I do not think he is a fit for the type of offense the Redskins are trying to run, not to mention the conflict with Shanahan Junior. It may be a variation of the West Coast offense but that does not mean it is the same as Philly ran. The problem is that there is not a quarterback on the team that I have any more faith in.
I doubt that McNabb is a part of this franchise after they get back to business here
I think that Mike & Bruce will make the choice of QB based on what they think is best for the franchise
IMO - McNabb is a better QB than Grossman or Beck - I would not mind seeing the 3 of them compete for the QB job here
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

If the media reports are all true (highly dubious), then maybe his focusing on fundamentals would be what the Shannahans want to hear from him to give him a chance to come back.
Hail to the Redskins!

I agree Kaz - McNabb is here and it would be OK by me if he's given another chance - let's face it - these guys (including Kyle) know that they did not handle McNabb very well and they know what they're getting with Grossman and Beck
I'd love to see McNabb have another shot at starting here

I agree it doesn't look good, but I'm not sure it changes anything. If the Shannahans are going to bring him back there needs to be a change in heart. I'm just saying that his rededicating himself to fundamentals along with some private lobbying on his part that he wants to be here and will earn it from scratch is the sort of thing it would take. Also, he obviously knows Eagle players a lot better then Skin players, I think the significance could be overstated. It's not going to change his relationship w/ Kyle or Mikey either by his going or not going to the Skins or the Eagles workouts. Their relationship has to change for him to stay. Hence my argument on focusing on "fundamentals."

We agree we'd like to see him in camp, I hope at least that happens. If they bring him in I'll be more behind if they do end up cutting him later.

I think that both McNabb and Mike & Kyle could have handled everything better here - I just think that given the options available and the current labor strife; I hope that McNabb wants to stay here - the only way that happens is if Kyle and Mike make him feel that they will not treat him like they did last year
I also have absolutely ZERO faith in 'reports' from the local media about how things were or are as regards the Shanahans and McNabb - bunch of nitwits
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

He joined roughly six Eagles on the fake grass of the Memorial Sports Complex in Marlton, N.J., after an indoor session at the Power Train facility.
I love the way the media says that he was practicing with the Philadelphia Eagles when in reality, it was "roughly" 6 players. Clearly, this wasn't an Eagles players team workout. If it was, what does only 6 players showing up say for Eagles team unity?
I agree that this action doesn't affect the relationship with the Shanahans. Donovan needs to workout. The last public message that he got was a decision on him would be made after the draft (Supposedly, there has been no contact between the two because of the lockout, so he has heard nothing about his future with the Redskins - Was Allen's statement a signal to him that we want you or a smoke screen to genrate trade interest in him?). Also, Donovan heard that Shanahan is high on Beck. It would not be wise to workout with the Skins under these circumstances. Imagine the media storm if that happened. Why not workout with 6 players (friends) from another team? He has done it before. Off season home - Arizona - workout with Cardinals. Former team Eagles - Still friends with Eagles players - work out with friends. What would be news is if he worked out with Vikings or Titans players.
By letting everyone know he wants to emphasize "fundamentals" which just happens to be what the Shanahans wanted him to do, is Donovan sending signals that he wants to stay here or is he playing along with a possible Allen smoke screen to enchance his tradability?
Thanks Red - I agree that there are a lot of different ways to interpret what is happening everywhere
one thing is for sure - the press will try and twist and spin this to suit their agenda - no matter what they really see or hear
this BS should be over fairly soon and we can get back to speculating on how our FO is doing in trying to get this franchise back on track
I imagine things will be a lot different than 'reports' have indicated

Exactly. It's obvious that both sides are ready to move on.
I'm not moving on as long as McNabb is on our roster and the other options are Rex and Beck
I will be one of the first, if not the first, to congratulate you on being right if McNabb takes another snap (including preseason) in the burgunday and gold.
I'm not sure you can call it a "team" workout, with the number of guys that were there.
Rich Tandler wrote:Donovan McNabb did not “practice with the Eagles” as some have reported (and as I headlined an article a short time ago).
After seeing the details in a report on CSN Philly, this was not anything remotely resembling a “practice”. It was not “organized” except to the extent that the five guys perhaps communicated as what time to meet up to work out.
It was McNabb and four current Eagles, Jamaal Jackson, Austin Howard, Trevor Laws, and Jaqua Parker. Visions of him throwing passes over Assante Samuel to DeSean Jackson simply weren’t accurate.

^^ what he said - thanks 1niksder
there have been a lot of opportunities for the press and others to twist everything about McNabb since we brought him in here
I think the so called workouts have been grossly over stated and I'm amazed that fans think that ANYTHING constructive and helpful will come from them OR that players not attending these gatherings are potentially hurting their performance this coming season - that is absolute BS
McNabb is most likely gone but I think we're better off at the QB position with McNabb than with Beck or Grossman

Fair enough and I agree, but I'll add this.
I definitely think it says something that McNabb always works out in AZ and you rarely (if ever) hear about him working out anywhere on the east coast.
He had more opportunties with the Redskins player run activities that had more players, and actual receivers on a team with which he is currently under contract. If this is not a big deal, it kind of makes you wonder why he made the effort to include himself there, but no effort to include himself here. I have a gut feeling that McNabb is not liked by the players on our team for whatever reason, and if true is reason enough to not want to see him back.
From my perspective this appears to be a mutual breakup. I really have no desire to watch my team be led by a player who does not want to be here. I'm ready to move on regardless of whether or not he'll make us a better team next season and I'm not even sure he does make us a better team short term or long term. He looked downright awful at times last year.

He was in town for a few days for the dedication of The McNabb Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Voorhees Replacement Hospital, to which McNabb has given a six-figure donation.

Anthony Armstrong, Donovan McNabb would be the quarterback of the Washington Redskins in 2011.
The breakout wide receiver made it clear for consistency sake “No. 5″ would be the best option for the Redskins moving forward in his eyes.
“Bring my man 5 back,” Armstrong said Tuesday night during his show on the Sports Journey Broadcast Network. “I want to bring Rex back, too because we have a familiarity… Everybody has a familiarity with the offense. But I say bring five back.”
But why McNabb over Grossman?
“I think that one he’s going to add that extra element that Rex doesn’t have… he’s more mobile,” the breakout receiver told network founder Lake Lewis and myself. “He can run.”

One receiver and one fullback does not a team make...
I wouldn't be able to track it down now but LL30 had some interesting tweets about DM5 last year. The words 'two' and 'faced' were mentioned. Without being in the locker room I really couldn't say one way or the other. Like I said, it's just a gut feeling.
McNabb can run a lot better than both Beck and Grossman but this isn't a staple Mike Shanahan offense where its 60/40 run/pass, and bootlegs are paramount. This is a Kyle Shanahan offense where accuracy and timing are paramount. Matt Schaub might be the slowest athlete in the world but he ran this offense perfectly. Who wouldn't want that type of production? I don't think McNabb is capable.
I'm not sure that McNabb is still a really good QB but I am sure he is a better QB than Beck or Grossman
I'm pretty sure McNabb is not here this season - this franchise is not going to have a really good offensive line or a consistently good offense this year no matter who is playing QB
we are hoping for the best but expecting another season of getting the pieces together and overcoming years of bad management by Cerrato & Snyder
