Does anybody believe that Mike gives options? That sounds so little like the Shanahan I know of.

I figure it was suggested and Donovan decided not to use a cheat sheet.

A scenario that better fits the two characters is that it was suggested.
Donovan wanted to force himself to get it right and understand the plays and coaches better.
Mike said, "Okay".

Now,
roll back the clock to the Two Minute Drill when Donovan was benched.
That bit about Rex knowing better how to run it makes a little more sense.

THAT sounds like Mike Shanahan.
