Seve Ballesteros

Post by UK Skins Fan »

He may not be the iconic figure in the US that he is in Europe, and I know there are plenty on these boards who don't like golf, but I can't let the passing of one of my all time sporting heroes go without mention today.

RIP Seve.

I understand that he pretty much brought professional golf back to life in Europe...

He was much too young to go. He'll be missed. My sympathies to his family, friends, and to all of his fans in Europe, and around the world.

Any European golfer earning a good living on the golf tour now owes that to Ballesteros. Anybody who enjoys the Ryder Cup, and all those who make vast sums of money out of the Ryder Cup; they owe that to Seve.

In a time when European golf had Faldo, Olazabal, Woosnam, Lyle and Langer, it was Ballesteros who made it all possible.

I know plenty of people find it hard to get excited about golf, but this man was a true sporting great.
