NEW YORK -- The Minnesota Vikings remain in the market for a veteran quarterback, and acquiring Donovan McNabb is a high probability, league sources said Friday.
Minnesota's selection of Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder with the No. 12 overall pick in the NFL draft Thursday night caught many around the league by surprise. However, it will not alter the Vikings' plan to sign a veteran starting-caliber quarterback, with McNabb long the team's top priority in that regard.
Well, with no QB for us, I wonder what we'll do. Hell, I'd rather have McNabb than Grossman or no one.

John Beck is here and he's going to get a shot at the job
McNabb is gone and who knows what we might get for him
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I seriously thought about this also. What if Ponder was the QB the Shanahan's were looking at all a long? What if there was a gentlemans agreement that the Vikes pick Ponder, then when trades are allowed the Vikes trade Ponder for McNabb and maybe our 2nd round pick next year or something like that?

He said, he was told Tenn. was taking Locker at #8 about a hour before it happened and was surprised when Minn. took Ponder at #12.
He looked like he was telling the truth, and we all know he's a terrible liar when it comes to QBs

Personally, for a QB that has been to the Pro Bowl, Super Bowl and numerous Championship games, not to mention being a class act, I think he deserves be called by his name:

not for his work ethics. Nice guy, sure! ProBowler, Yes! Positive attitude, ok....
But his slack tempo and work ethics is indeed Questionable. It's been well documented. Call him what you will. I'm free to call him what I will.

How dare you suggest that a good football player, nay a good man (from every single account of those who are not JUST fans) be granted the decency of being called by his name? Don't you realize he is the sole reason for our 6-10 season last year?
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

Just stated my opinion. We sit at home and judge these players performances. But there's no reason to persoanlly berate a guy like McNabb. he's earned his respect. Of course you're free to call him whatever.

I've been saying I'm still solidly behind him and I call him McNabb, but I still think this is silly

Wow, this does look interesting. One can piece together some evidence to support this theory. I do believe that the Redskins and the Vikings have a plan in place to make McNabb a Viking, but I do not believe that his scenario is the plan for the following reasons.
1. Ponder is the Vike's QB in Waiting, if they trade him for McNabb, they would still need a future QB - why trade him if you already have him.
2. Some "experts" believed that Ponder had moved up enough that he would not get to the second round - the Vikes had to make the move.
3. I can't see Mike doing the same thing twice trading away a second rounder with McNabb involved.
4. Mike want Luck - he needs to build ammo - not get rid of it.

That would mean, basically, that we just traded McNabb for a first round pick. No way that happens.

They're not trading McNabb for this guy. Puff puff pass...don't be stingy.

The National Anthem sucks.
What a useless piece of propagandist rhetoric that is.
I like McNugget, I still do very much. HOWEVER, we need to trade him when we get the opportunity. Simple reasoning, he won't resign with us on his own so we may as well get something for the guy.

.. Grossman/Beck/Ponder
LPJ - I agree on getting something for him but I doubt the Vikings are giving up their future QB for an interim QB - they need both
the only way that McNugget stays is if this mess goes on for too long and then we're stuck with he and Beck - not sure about Grossman

no way any team that just drafted a qb in the first round would ever trade them for mcnabb...mcnabb is getting traded for some extra timber....if that. Feelings and drama aside, (if possible) I would like to see mcnabb back this year with some new weapons as the team develops...
