You got that right. Fresh, young, hungry players will bump out all the lazy ones who just want to collect a "paycheck".........

Apparently, we DID NOT fill our need at NT.

Shanahan on Jenkins: I think he's the prototype 3-4 defensive end.

Canes - would you compare Hankerson with Jerrico Cotchery in NY? Possession type guy. Not a burner but good route runner and decent hand?

Canes, obviously you've seen him and I haven't. What little I'd read (from ESPN) indicated he really didn't have breakaway speed and wasn't likely to break many tackles. Is that your opinion as well? It did say his hands and leaping ability were above average.

He's not a burner like Moss, but he has more than enough speed to break long plays. He's a GREAT route runner, always finds a way to get open. He would have been drafted much higher if our qb situation hadn't been a disaster during his time at Miami. This is a guy that's been coached by both Cris Carter and Mark Duper.

glad you're finally on board with one of our picks. I'm not surprised you like this one. I think he has the potential to be better than Jones.

I'm starting to come around on Kerrigan. Still not sure he can play the 3-4 but I love the work ethic and effort that he brings.

Hankerson's a 'Cane. It was a given that Canes would like him :)

He's bigger and faster than Cotchery. I think Dwayne Bowe, with a little less speed, is a decent comparison.

So basically we dropped from 49 to 79 and picked up a 4th, 3 5ths and 2 7ths. Not bad considering we still got Hankerson anyway.

Plenty of picks left to get a young one.

Also, there is Blaine Sumner.

Oh, I agree. Just thought we were going to play Jenkins at NT. DE makes more sense though and the pick makes more sense based on Shanahan's comment. Is Kenrick Ellis still available? He's got a few character issues but I would take a chance on him in the 4th or 5th.

I haven't been 100% sold on the firs two picks or the multiple trade backs until the Hankerson pick.

I watched this guy a lot this year and he really plays hard. Has decent speed, good hands (i think they said were the largest at the draft combine this year), and was productive, and the captain.

I feel like a LB, DE, and WR all filled immediate needs on the team and should all contribute right away if lockout ends soon.

Mostly I am happy to not have one of these Qbs drafted cause I can't see any of them standing out right now.

In the next picks it would be nice to a NT, OG, OT, OC/C, LB, CB, CB, QB

You know with all those picks Shanahan can't resist 1 or 2 late round RB's

They'll probably trade him to us in a few years for a 1st rounder.

Someone change my way of thinking. We basically did all of this trading so we could get a bunch of late round players, who odds are most late round players never make a impact or just end up on special teams.

That's certainly the risk that Shanahan and Allen are taking. If they draft well this could turn out to be a great couple of days for us.
