Hmmm. I could see Mallet pulling a Ty Law and verbally "shooting" his way out of town in a couple of years. The Patriots haven't had quite as much of the magic touch with problem children in the last couple of years. I'm a little surprised that Belichick went with Mallet.

Mallet sitting behind Brady and Belichek as his coach is probably the best scenario for this young man.

As far as comparing him to Ty Law, why not go ahead and say Randy Moss - tossing his baggage for a few years under Belichek and then having the Baggage re-emerge.

I dounb it though, if MAllet refines his game and dumps any baggage that "may" have been there, Belicheck and Kraft will pay him unlike other positions.

Btw....love what we are doing today. Would've liked Mallett but it's nice to see us building through the draft finally.

Hankerson! This is a good pick especially for the 3rd round.

Hopefully Malcolm Kelly can stay healthy and plays up to his potential, pair him up with Hankerson and maybe resign Santana to play in the slot?

Above average, work ethic guy with some size but not a lot of speed from what I'm reading about Hankerson.

Probably not a terrible pick mid-way through the third round. Now we'll have to see if he can actually do anything on the field when it means something.

Another 50/50. But at least he isn't a first round 50/50.

Leonard Hankerson was the best offensive player on the field in the Senior Bowl. He made numerous outstanding catches, including a 49-yarder where he made a great adjustment on Christian Ponder's severely underthrown pass. Hankerson has a shot to go in the bottom of the first round if he has a good Combine.

Belichick and Kraft don't pay ANYONE whose name isn't Tom Brady. Besides, word on the street is that Bill goes when Tom retires (probably at the end of his current contract - 2014 I think). I'm not really sure that it's a good fit unless Mallett has really taken his draft plummet to heart, which I hear is not really his style.

He ran a 4.43 40 at the combine. He has a good combo of size/speed. Very hard working, good character player. Drops were an issue early on for him but he spend the last 2 years working with Mark Duper to improve on that.

Is Ricky Stanzi still on the board? Does anyone think this guy might be Mike's QB project target for the draft (assuming he hasn't been drafted)?.

Thats what I was thinking but I think that he'll be our 3rd WR this year. We'll probably try to resign Moss, AA at 2 and Hanky as our 3.

Canes, obviously you've seen him and I haven't. What little I'd read (from ESPN) indicated he really didn't have breakaway speed and wasn't likely to break many tackles. Is that your opinion as well? It did say his hands and leaping ability were above average.

Well, that's all the Skins are likely to be doing tonight so I'm going to turn in for the evening. It's been a pleasure as always. Talk to you folks later.

He's not a burner like Moss, but he has more than enough speed to break long plays. He's a GREAT route runner, always finds a way to get open. He would have been drafted much higher if our qb situation hadn't been a disaster during his time at Miami. This is a guy that's been coached by both Cris Carter and Mark Duper.

We have Progress.

Someone please give US all an update on who we've picked and what other picks we have in the following rounds......

We have 1 4th and a *sh$t* load of 5th-7th so I guess all our borderline guys have to be worried with all the competition this year.

glad you're finally on board with one of our picks. I'm not surprised you like this one. I think he has the potential to be better than Jones.
