I agree on the quickness.... against COLLEGE LEVEL opponents. NFL Tackles are not going to get speed-rushed like that. He doesn't have much in the arsenal in terms of moves from what I've read about him. High motor, low skill set. I also don't see anything about him being able to cover a back or TE. GREAT we'll have matching bookend OLB's who can't cover at all. We're gonna see those little flare routes to the backs go for 60+ yard TD's all season long.

Besides the stripping and speed rush are only useful if Hazlet finally takes the leash off the defense and decides to get AGGRESSIVE (which he didn't do anywhere near enough for my tastes last year).

Who was it on ESPN that called Rak and Kerrigan "Elephants?"

Saints have a team with little needs so they can afford to give up next years #1 pick.

It's a no brainer or the Saints. It will be a late first rounder in 2012 anyway.

I am thinking that it will be Mallet because he will be the only guy who falls to us. I am more inclined to think that Shanny waits until 49 with a QB choice.

(Michael Conroy - AP) A whole blog post about newest Redskin Ryan Kerrigan’s nickname? Sure, why not, when that nickname is Superman.

“He’s smart, big, good-looking, fast and strong,” Purdue Coach Danny Hope once said. “He’s Superman in a lot of ways. That’s what the players call him, and he is.”

“The guys joke around and call me Superman because I’m kind of strong,” Kerrigan said in 2009. “They say I’m like Clark Kent. If they want to call me that, so be it.”

“He can do anything from a player standpoint,” Hope told the AP in 2010. “He can go longer and harder than most. He’s faster than most. He’s bigger than most. Stronger than most. Smarter than most. Better looking than most. He’s Superman. He’s our Superman.”

“I don’t really know where it stems from,” Kerrigan told the AP. “Maybe it stems from the demeanor I have on the field versus the demeanor off. It’s flattering....It’s kind of embarrassing in a way.”

Totally agree. They missed on Matthews TWICE. Let them roll with Danny woodhead. Though you know they will draft somebody late like the UNC guy or Jacquizz, or Ryan Williams, bahhh

Kerrigan will be Outside LB with the Skins:

Kerrigan was a defensive end in college, but he’ll be an outside linebacker in Washington. The Redskins switched to a 3-4 scheme last year and didn’t have the personnel to pull it off—the talents of Albert Haynesworth(notes) and Andre Carter(notes) essentially went to waste—but the 6-foot-4, 267-pound Kerrigan has the versatility to rush the passer and the strength to make a difference against the run.

Shanahan said he saw enough at the NFL combine to be convinced that Kerrigan can make the switch.

“A lot of times you take a defensive end who’s been in a three-point stance most of his career, and you have him do linebacker-related drills, it takes him a while to get going,” Shanahan said. “I though he was very athletic, very agile, and we think he can make the transition fairly quickly.”

Kerrigan will play opposite two-time Pro Bowl linebacker Brian Orakpo(notes), giving the Redskins an imposing tandem threat to the quarterback. Kerrigan had 33 1/2 career sacks with the Boilermakers, including 12 1/2 last year.

Washington ranked 31st in total defense last season. Orakpo had 8 1/2 sacks, but the rest of the team combined had just 21.
