CFL's Phillip Hunt = next Cameron Wake?

Post by spudstr04 »

Winnipeg Blue Bombers DE Phillip Hunt, who led the CFL with 16 sacks in 2010, is reportedly drawing interest from the Vikings.

Undrafted out of Houston in 2009, Hunt was in training camp with the Browns, lasting just one preseason game. At 6'2/260, he would seem to be a better fit as an edge rusher in a 3-4 defense. Vikings pass rushers Ray Edwards and Brian Robison are due to hit free agency this offseason.

You think Shanahan/Haslett could be watching this guy. He could be the next Cameron Wake. I think that we had a shot to get Wake, but passed on him. I hope they at least talk to the guy, could be a nice complement to Orakpo on the outside.

We in DC, refer to him as Derek Wake, the name he used when he dominated at DeMatha.

If you want to know why the University of Maryland is getting killed in basketball and football, look no further than their inability to recruit in their own back yard. Anybody ever heard of Cyrus Kouandjio or his brother Arie? If not, you will.

And they're not going to the University of Maryland.

Adrian Dantley

Austin Carr

Elgin Baylor (yes...him. The all-time great)

All Washington area, none at U of M. They have never been able to recruit from the area.
