Hognostications Week 17

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

I need FOUR upsets over the conservative picks called by Kaz to go for a tie

I suspect he will get at least four wrong. The question is: Which ones?

Let's givie it a try with

Pittsburgh
Minnesota
Kansas City
New England
New Orleans
Buffalo
Baltimore
Houston
Washington
Philadelphia
San Francisco
Green Bay
Indianapolis
San Diego
Seattle
Tie-breaker = 38

I do need each and every one of those four upsets to tie. If I do not get them all, Kaz is champ for 2010.

Enjoy guys, I know I have. Thanks Hoss.

I don't see it RiC BUT I also think you might want to pick all 16 games
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I'm looking for a great win by the Redskins this week and hopefully these idiots will get a CBA in place so we can have a season in 2011

I will not be participating in the playoffs - I have not deserved it and will not be playing

Question is: Will those picks be good enough to get you in the playoffs? You're sitting in the #12 seed right now...

which I might add is lower than REDEEMED.

*** I had to edit my picks so I didn't pick a lot of the same teams as KazooSkinsFan!!! I have to make up 4 games to try to tie!!! I decided to choose 5 games different than the big Kazoo to try to take the lead here. Question is - am I right about these five games???*** I'll probably just get knocked out of 2nd place....by a ton. Oh well. It was fun any way this year, HOSS!!!! I pointed out the 5 games I picked differently

Thanks for the reminder

However, as I've said, I will not be playing in the playoffs - there's no real fun in the playoffs for me - Hognostications is all about picking the winners each week - that's where the Hognostication Champion is decided - unlike the NFL, the winner of the season is the winner

I think Kaz did very well this year as there were a lot of really weird and very difficult results to pick

you guys kill me! I will follow the rules that have been in place since week 1.....

Rules:
Unless notated in each week’s blog, all picks must be entered by 12 noon est on Sundays. There will be certain weeks when games will be played on Thursdays and Saturdays so please make sure you read each week’s blog for deadlines.
Each week there will be a tie breaker which is the last game of each week. Please post your total points for that game. Those getting the closest to the final score without going over will win the tie breaker.
If you have posted your picks DO NOT edit your post. If you need to make a correction you must enter a new post with your corrections/edit. I will not go back to your first post to look for edits, this is way too time consuming. If you fail to enter your picks by the posted deadline you will forfeit your picks. All picks due by 12 noon est Sunday.

Justice Hog,
Any new picks edited other than in a new post will not count.

SkinsJock....
All picks must be entered by 12pm EST!

RiC, only 15 picks???????

I have to be fair and if you did not follow the above rules then I will have to tally accordingly. Believe me it pains me but rules are rule.

RiC will only have 15 picks. Justice Hog's original picks will stand and SkinsJocks will forfeit this week's picks.

no worries Hoss - I made my picks and then when I wanted to change them I edited them instead of reposting - absolutely no problem

brother, the problem is that you entered your initial picks after 12pm est....

I just wish you would have posted your initial picks before the deadline and they would have counted.

but no worries.

Rules are the rules brother. No problem.

Let me explain what happened in any event:

I had my picks chosen in another application and did a quick cut and paste but I left the top pick out by accident ... Atlanta

I had said I picked FOUR different picks than Kaz and they were marked in yellow. So, this is to confirm my Atlanta pick. HOWEVER, as I said above, the rules are the rules, and I accept your decision with respect and gratitude for your effort.

I gave it my best shot under the circumstances. Congrats to Kaz. He handily deserves the win of this competition.

That is exactly what I thought. I was holding my breath hoping you would catch it.

I will post the final standings after the late game.

I would like to take a moment and say this.

I thank you all for participating in this year's Hognostications. As others have mentioned before, this is TRULY a labor of love. There isn't any thing that I look forward to most but at the same time can not wait for it to be over! LOTS of late nights, time and effort goes in to this.

I thank you all for giving me this opportunity to give back to my fellow Skins fans.

And remember BIATCH!!!!! there has NEVER EVER been a Hognostication Champion who has EVER picked against the Skins!!!!!!

just food for thought...........

Thank you, sir. Is there any record of all the prior winners? I am curious. I did check a few years back and I saw you are a prior winner, Jock

I noticed that FFA/Irn-Bru made the coment after the loss - "UGH - 9 months wait for the season"

I must admit that I'm feeling much the same - it's going to be interesting around here but i was disapointed with a lot of aspects of our franchise this year

ANYWAY - I will be looking forward to trying to get back on the top perch of Hognostications next year

again - THANKS to Hoss and a BIG congrats to KazooSkinsFan

It is a different tournament. It is a way to continue playing after the Skins are out.

It is my NFL pick and NOW, I can pick without sacrificing one pick every week with our lousy record.

I respect others. I just think that it is a different competition. The Hognostications Champion is still the Hognostications Champion. This si a dfferent competition but you earn your ticket in if you wish.

I guess somebody would lose by default though

No, it's like resting your starters against Dallas because you're already in the playoffs, and you don't care about the rivalry. It's not quite as bad for SkinsJock as you though, because he is the 12th seed and the next closest person was 7 games back. Still, I'm sure some of them would rather be in his shoes. I know you've now agreed to play, but it just seems like a slight against the other hognosticators to quit, just because it's only for bragging rights and pride.
:hmm: Where have I heard that line before?

Because I said that line in one context doesn't mean it's applicable to every other context. If I wouldn't play next season to defend my championship then I'd agree with the analogy. But the season is 256 games and you pick every one. The playoffs is a maximum of 12 games and you get eliminated throughout the 12. I see the pre-season as a lot more applicable analogy. It would be like having a basketball tournament where every game is only overtime. Anyway, I said I'll play.

Whoa - I did not mean to make a big deal out of this - I was really only thinking about the fact that the "season" as far as I am concerned is OVER

I did not mean anything disrespectful - IF I am in the "playoffs" then so be it - I will participate

geez - give it a rest - I was just frustrated about no real football for many months

I'm fired up now - I cannot wait to see the draw
