Campbell is not the QB this franchise needed to move forward. McNabb was also not the QB we needed. Look at the average year he had in Philly last year with a lot of talent and a stable OL. McNabb is simply about the same level QB and older than Campbell right now and that is why I did like the move. McNabb should absolutely not be resigned next year. I would be very surprised if he was. Portis should and will also be gone next year.
Haslett was not and is not a good DC. His track record backs that up as well as the big step backwards this defense has taken from last year. Those are two of our biggest mistakes this off-season.

When we are able to plug in new bodies and still improve throughout the season, it is a testament to the scheme and coaching. Kyle Shannahan is a very bright OC and we can be a pretty good offense. Armstrong has improved a lot and ey is looking like himself. Torrain looks to be a pretty solid back, although we undoubtably need a third down back. If we could get a guy like Ryan Williams in the second round (if we have the pick) that would be tremendous. The offense can be good even without an elite QB. If we find the QB we need this can be a great offense.

We have players that cannot play in the scheme we currently have. Andre Carter is not an OLB or a 3-4 DE. Alexander filled in much better than expected at his size, but he is also not an OLB. yea i was against the mcnabb idea because the team was simply overconfident in their roster to think they could compete any time in the next five years. Now we have no 3 and no 4 on a old crappy team. nice work.

The same DC who had to play a 3-4 defense with a starting NT (A key position for any 3-4) who was out of football last year, and several other players out of position. There may have been a lot of yardage given up by this D but they made the plays responsible for the Packer win (Landry intercept), Bears (Hall) and Dallas (Hall). They kept us in position to win every game but two. All of this was done with the wrong personnel for a 3-4. The still managed to win one more game than last year. How did such a D accomplish this? The D coordinator. With what he had, Haslett did a good job IMO. Can't agree with you on that.

I don't think that we should draft a RB at # 2 , we have too many other needs when good backs can be found in the late rounds.

We need everything now except tight end and strong safety. Anything we get could and should be an improvement.

Kilmer72, we are 14 games into the season, the decision to change to the 3-4 is done. If you find a way to convince Shanahan to change back before he dumps the 4-3 guys that don't fit, I will gladly jump on board, but you know Shanahan, once his mind is made up .... In the meantime, scower the colleges and find us some 3-4 guys for next year.

Don't hope for a "trade" of McNabb. The impulsive and thoughtless handling of this episode has seriously degraded his trade value. The "evaluation" sham has poisoned the well. If he is traded, we will not get any where near equivalent value for what we gave up.

Beyond that, KIlmer72, I'm a fan of the 4-3, as well... but it's a done deal. The 4-3 is important to this Head Coach, and that is the direction that he'll move. As has been pointed out, the talent for the front 7 in a 3-4 is a precious commodity, which will be further diluted as more teams move to it.

This is the time to be bulking up your 4-3 (as 4-3 type talent will become more availible as teams continue to move to a 3-4), not moving away from it... but, it is what it is, and Shanahan WILL have his way. We will not be resuming a 4-3 anytime in the near future.

I don't see why we couldn't trade McNabb, there's a market out there for a 6 time pro bowler. Once all the dust settles on the 2010 NFL season and teams see their own needs at QB of course someone will trade for Donnie Mac. We may even get trade value for Haynesworth.

Landry was going to most likely be at SS no matter who we had at DC. The way he used Landry was very good. Haslett has some strong points, but his overall product does not have a good track record. Hall making an individual play against Dallas had nothing to do with Haslett's scheme or ability. He did that back in College, he just sometimes makes big plays. The Ints were him simply breaking on the ball in man coverage. Our scheme alone was not the biggest factor in our increase in TOs. Look at the entire NFL, even teams with terrible, terrible defenses are in most games. That should not be the criteria for measuring a defense. Offenses in the NFL play to shorten the game when they get ahead, they do not run up the score to impress people. The Giants could have put up huge numbers against us. Winning one more game than last year can be pure circumstance. We catch a few breaks in close games early in the season that we did not catch last year. You do not think our offense improving this year had anything do with our record either? We won one more game this year with an improved offense and special teams play. This defense was without question a worse unit than last years unit.

The decision to hire Haslett was poor on several fronts. I do not blame the man himself for getting a job. We had 4-3 personnel AND Haslett does not have a great track record. There are more accomplished 3-4 defensive minds floating around right now. The defense was decent at letting teams drive but limiting points. That being said, if you do not think yards are important, you are missing a key aspect. A good defense gets you the ball back in good field position. Allowing a team to drive to your 40 yard line and pin you inside the 10, really hurts the offense.

We do not need just any RB early. Williams is a special talent and easily the best RB in this draft, that will drop because he missed time with an injury this year. He is a can't miss player and could play an any offense, but is PERFECT for our offense. Torrain runs too hard to stay healthy and we have no kind of third down back.

There are 3 teams in the NFC West alone that could use McNabb! Then add in the vikings, bills, panthers, titans, broncs, and fins. Half the league needs a starting QB!

Someone will offer up a pick for #5. It might not be a high a we think it should be, but the fins gave up a 2nd a few years ago for donte culpepper! Maybe we can get a third for #5 & a fourth for AH.
