AH, QB, and the NFL Draft

I know there are probably a million threads on this topic already, but do not have time to search through to find the right one. Obviously, DM is gone after this season. We currently sit at #7 in the draft. Depending on games the next two weeks, we could move up. Do you think a team would trade their #1, for our #1 and AH? That would allow us to move up to get a stud QB if necessary. We would need to bring in somebody to tutor that QB. I might get blasted for this, but Jon Kitna will be available. He has been decent for the pukes, but I believe his contract is up, and heard analysts the other day say that he would be starting somewhere next year. He is older, and on the tail end of his career. We could bring him in for 2 years or so to get the rookie ready. Whatchya think? I know he is a Puke, but hasn't been for long. He has really been a journeyman.

Why would we need to move up to get a QB in the draft when there will be several available at #7, Luck is no lock to be a franchise QB, and the team has so many holes that QB Jesus couldn't make a difference as of right now? If we want a journeyman we have Grossman. As stated, we would still have to bring in yet another QB to mentor a draft pick. Maybe I am misunderstanding the purpose of the post.

I am thinking that Kitna would be a better mentor than Grossman. It was the only way I see of getting anything of value out of AH. I guess us moving up in the draft by record would eliminate that need. If we by chance win a couple, and other teams loose we might want to use AH to move up to the top 5. We need to draft a QB. I know we need to fix the line too, but QB is a serious need, and most successful teams do that in the draft. Maybe we can find a Brady to draft in the 6th round.

I am thinking that Jake Locker is very similar to Jake Plummer and that Mike Shanahan is looking in his direction. Who could he possibly bring in to mentor Locker? The answer is himself. Shanahan fancies himself a QB guru.

I can remember where I saw this (I think it was an article by Mel Kiper) that said that Shanahan was enamored with Locker last year.

Last year Locker was great but this year he wasn't anything special. Especially against good teams.

Rather than trade up, I would like to see us trade down for more picks. Forget drafting a QB at this stage. We need more infantry, not a new figher pilot.

I did. I suppose it depends greatly upon where one rates Elway. He barely cracks my top 25 for any number of reasons. Besides, Kellen Moore is the QB prospect who looks like his son.
