Personally, I think Shanahan should be benched
Afterall, wasn't it Shanahan who completely flubbed clock management at the end of the first half last week forcing us to kick a field goal instead of getting a TD? Those 4 points would have come in handy at the end of the game no?
I have serious doubts about this coach and staff. I might take Gruden or Cowher and McNabb over the Shanahans at this point
This is an extremely stupid move. If you are done with McNabb, show him the professional courtesy of finishing the season and cut him lose afterwards. This is a bush league move, one of at least a few, this coach has made.
Consider me not impressed with Shanahan at all

Would you have benched Gibbs after the two time out thing?

Joe Gibbs never went out of his way to play head games with players and to devalue talent to a point where it has no trade value. Shanahan has done both, playing chicken with Haynesworth instead of making a decision in the beginning and living with the consequences, and taking an eleven sack defensive end in Andre Carter and making him an afterthought. Shanahan is a step below Gibbs as a head coach and several steps below Gibbs as a personnel manager. On-field errors are easy to overlook, especially if they are corrected. Personality flaws that come at a detriment to players who deserve better and to the organization overall are much more difficult to overlook. McNabb is another one that is becoming difficult to overlook.

This makes no sense, but you are passionate my friend and you have to respect that

Nothing Mike Shanahan has done to this point has made sense, therefore the post is on point.
Lets walk through the McNabb fiasco. We get him from the Eagles, bench him after the Detroit game (when he could have taken us down the field for a win), sign him to an extension, then bench him again, ending his time with Washington
Huh?
Combine this with the Hanyesworth fiasco, and the extra point, and we are once again the laughingstock of the NFL
Great, just great ....

Wrong, Gibbs did it with Ramsey and Pierce and some others that i do not rememebr right now. Gibbs II was full of behind the scenes power plays the whole time he was here.

Maybe head coach Mike Shanahan had seen enough at some point of the Detroit Lions game, because things sure have gotten weird since then. The new regime had the Redskins on course for a potential post season appearance at the mid-way point of the season only to be blown out by two division rivals by a combined score of 90 - 35, and couldn't prevent a 40 year old quarterback with a bad ankle from picking up 10 yards on a third and eight with the game on the line. Now the Redskins are 5-8 and right in the thick of the race for a top ten draft pick.

Say what you want about Gibbs, we went to the playoffs twice in four years, even won a game. Until Shanny does that all other talk is futile and meaningless. I do know one thing if year 2 of the Shanny reign is a circus like year 1 I don't see him back for year 3. Good luck with Grossman or whoever the hell is going to be our quaterback. Which reminds me, how long has it been since the Skins had a "franchise" quarterback? 20 years?

Depends on your definition of "franchise". As far as I'm concerned, the last one wore #9... making it much closer to 40 years than 20...

This is a GD disgrace. For those of you who do not live in the Philly area you cannot imagine the embarassment this type of stupid decisions bring. Honestly, I don't know if I can do this anymore. I have to think hard about this franchise and whether or not I need to be spending money on Direct TV and coming to a game or two a year. Shanny is a rat like everyone said. This is just as bad as when Zorn was here. Awful, awful, awful.
Drinking the Kool-Aid again...

When over the last 19 years haven't the Skins been the laughing stock of the NFL? This kind of garbage has become the norm for this team...

Comparing with Sonny isn't playing fair ... there hasn't been anyone like Sonny in those 40 years since he retired.

Shanahan IMO has been an absolute and utter disaster. Granted im just a guy that watches and not a gm or coach, but i dont think there is ONE move ive agreed with. I dont know if he wanted to prove that he was in charge and thats why he has been such a tough guy, but he has come across as a grudge holding ego manic, and most importantly a bad coach. He has failed to connect to the players, or the fans, and again more importantly failed to win games.
I know its still year 1, but color me unimpressed. Here is a list off the top of my head that im sure people will be able to add to:
We alienated our best Defensive player ( and i know hes an A-hole, but we should have found a way to get him to produce or traded him).
We completely overhauled our D to the 34, and while i know numbers can be skewed to fit any argument, we statistically (and IMO truthfully) are MUCH worse this year.
He Benched #5 in a winnable game that culminated in absolute train wreck.
We lost to Detroit. Again.
We lost to Rams. Again.
We lost to Tampa. Again.
We give up 40 yard TD's on 4th and 10 to lose games.
We got absolutely destroyed on national tv against a rival in historic fashion
We followed that up against the Giants by getting punched in the throat and literally ran over.
We miss cihp shot FG's.
We botch snaps
We commit holding penalties at the worst times.
The players are divided, and the fans are either blind, apathetic or fed up.
We trade picks and sign to contract a guy that we apparently dont want and continually disrespect.
We have been used as a spring board for team after team.
And The dude just seems like an A-hole. I know we adore Gibbs for good reason, but even in the bad years he was culpable, affable, and likable. Shanahan... not so much.
I know the eternal optimists and myopic blow hard's will shred this post and find inaccuracies at every turn, and tell me how im not a "true" fan, and thats ok. To be fair, there are moves i do like this year with A Armstrong, Torrian, and the gold pants!! So im not a complete pessimist, but jusy sayin.. Shanahan is not making me happy right about now.
