It's a great day to be a Redskin fan

Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

It's a great day to be a Redskin fan

Post by KazooSkinsFan »

We have three more games this year and I plan to savor every one in glorious HDTV recorded on my DVR so I don't miss a play. Just some of the few things to appreciate as a Redskin fan today:

- We have a competent new regime who aren't falling in the quick fix trap. Those who think tanking the team and signing a rookie squad are just wrong. You have to build winning systems and continue to infuse youth. Signings like Brown to help solidify the line are critical to and not counter two a youth movement.

- Our new regime is working with Danny, but aren't hand puppets like Vinnie was. The whole ignore Danny movement among some fans is just naive. But no, he's not a football whiz. He's not even a football mediocrity, he's a fan with more dollars then sense. You need the balance of working with him but not actually doing his stupid ideas.

- We do have some players in our era who will be remembered as we remember guys like Larry Brown and Art Monk now. When I look back, Portis will be one of my favorites, a guy who gives his all on every play. Cooley, Moss, Landry, Fletcher. And of course the late Sean Taylor, who died just as he was emerging as a special player. And McNabb is the real deal. I hope he plays the next five years with us. Though transitioning to a mentoring role.

- We can still sweep Dallas

And the title was a rouse, every day is a great day to be a Redskin fan. You just have to look at the right things. But seriously, while it's fun to get into the debate over the things that suck and don't suck, I don't get why anyone who doesn't love being a Redskin fan each and every day doesn't just go away and not come back. We'll be happier, and you will too. It's football for God's sake. It's there for fun. If you aren't having any, you're just missing the boat on what this is all about.
Hail to the Redskins!

The jury is still out on the competence of the new regime, however I agree with the remaining points and the overall sentiment.

- Today is also the one-year anniversry of Cerrato's firing. Another feather in any Redskin fan's cap.

Naive if you ignore the Danny? Really Kaz?

I agree with everything else but I think paying fans of either tickets or merchandise have that right. I would call it naive to continue to entertain higher priced tickets for a team that year after year doesn't deliver.

I am optimistic about this new management. I am just not however spending any more money until it turns around.

* I would put up with 5 more miserable years if the team moved back to DC tomorrow...

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

I still don't blame Cerrato for the state of the Redskins, under Dan Snyder's schizophrenic ownership the best personnel man in the world wouldn't have been successful.

Look at what Cerrato dealt with after coming back from Schottenheimer's team.

First he had to look for players to fit a run and shoot with Spurrier's influence on players bringing in a bunch of washed out Florida alumni. Just two short years later he was asked to build a team for Joe Gibbs' ball control offense. Gibbs wanted his guys NOW so Vinny had to trade some picks and make some ill-advised trades. Next, he's supposed to build a team for Jim Zorn's west coast offense. It crashes and burns because Zorn was a terrible head coach and he gets fired.

Honestly, it we had just stuck to a plan and made good decisions as an organization things could have ended differently.

Way to jinx it, Kazoo. McNabb was benched. I blame you for the team's 5-8 record.

*stepping in line behind Kaz*... I'M WITH YOU BRO!!! 100%

There's no jury to be out in football when you have a new regime for only one season.. if you want them out, your taking the OLD danny snyder mentality of "if you can't win today, get out".

.. and I randomly blame JansenFan for our woes because he can't post as much as he used too with his job.. so up yours JF for our 5-8 record!
