Devin Thomas Cut By Panthers
Heard on the Fan 106.7 that Devin Thomas was cut by the Panthers. Only confirmation I can find:

Maybe he should sign with the Broncos like Brandon Lloyd.

I would love to hear his story. He proved in his second year with the Skins that he has the talent to play. He had trouble with Zorn, but Zorn kept him. He had trouble with Shanahan but Shanahan kept him around for awhile before cutting him. Carolina went after him on the waiver wire. Is it immaturity? Route running? All of the above? I still believe that he will resurface someday in the NFL and be a good receiver ala Brandon Lloyd.

Two words: work ethic.

LAMO! Great point Countertrey. Knowing the offense is one of the reasons that Zorn, Shanahan and most likely the Panthers were hesitant to let him see the field.
However, I wouldn't count out Devin to make a play or two for a team that needs him to be on the field. He has proven that he can make plays (end around for a TD against the Giants; 7 catch performance against the Saints). Coughlin might be forced to draw up plays just to get him on the field because of the injuries to their receiving corps.

I agree, that if he ever gets a clue, and realizes that talent alone does not a great receiver make, he could become something special. Of course, the history of the league is littered talented adolescents who simply took a team's money and disappeared, as well...

My biggest concern when we drafted him was that he went to MSU. That doesn't indicate commitment to his studies is a priority. Spartans hate us Wolverines because they think we look down on them. But who cares what they think? I mean they went to MSU...

OK, now I finally have someone explain to me why MSU alum Charles Rogers was a bust at WR.

I'm afraid so. They don't work hard in High School then go to a college they can cruise through no sweat. I'm afraid they're not going to come into the NFL actually ready to work for it since so far they never made that choice.
