That's what I been saying. It sounds like a lot and it's the Redskin, so the first thought is "the Danny" did it again. That's how he always does it. This wasn't him.

This contract is a joke for DMac because it contains a blaring "Kyle Shanahan hates me" clause in it. But at least when you Redskin fans begin treating him like his name is Jason Campbell, he'll still get 3.5 million out of the deal.

The real contract actually sounds like a much better deal for the Skins. And again makes me wonder why McNabb signed here.

Also, the Skins again had a massive public relations fail with this one. They should have come right out and corrected the erroneous reports...but they didn't. Good job.

Has he really made $150 million or is that just the nominal value of the contracts he's signed over the year + an estimation of endorsements?

From an article I read a few months ago in the Philadelphia Inquirer (Philly's excuse for a paper), that's the actual value the Eagles have paid the guy over his career. I can't link it (and I'm having problems finding it online), but I do know that when you add up his rookie contract (2nd overall), plus the rework in 2001 that was a 12 year, $115 million deal (20.5 guaranteed), and then add the second rework before the 2009 season that actually gave him a payraise, it makes sense.

thanks for "looking" at the deal more closely guys

 another case of many here jumping ugly at anything & everything this FO does when they have no clue what is really happening

we are 4-5 for crying out loud - we are not as good as many think but we are certainly not as bad as some here think either

this franchise needs time to repair the damage and at this time we've made progress and we should allow these guys the time they need to get it done
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Do you really think McNabb is some hot commodity? Other teams are not going to want him. The fact that he took the deal could and I say could point to him believing that he is playing as well as he can.

Finally some facts. I'm not seeing the reason in the terms for all the lamenting.

I thought you meant this tongue in cheek since you've done that before over the hysterical crowd, but you keep repeating it. You seriously believe this?

Yeah. From a few standpoints.

One, he has options. While he hasn't set the world on fire as a Redskin, there would be a market for him in the offseason. Many teams will be in the market for a QB next year, such as Arizona, Minnesota, etc. Also, I'm not sure that his current mediocre play for the Redskins will count against him a lot, considering how bad his supporting cast is with the Skins on offense, and how his past 12 years have been very, very good. I think many would be willing to disregard this year as just another Redskins disaster. We're good at taking players who played well on other teams and coaxing mediocre performance from them, after all.

Second, he came from a team where he was used to winning, and had talent. Now he's playing for this franchise, which at best is uneven. He's got very little talent around him on offense, and not much prospects for the future. It's an old team without much depth or young players to develop. He can play the next 2-3 years on a team that needs an overhaul at receiver, running back, offensive line, and a defense that needs work...or he can go to Minnesota and play on a team that's fairly well set. Or on Arizona, which at least isn't fielding Joey Galloway at WR.

Last, most importantly, he was treated poorly by his head coach. Benched for a scrub QB in the last 2 minutes of a winnable game, and then thrown under the bus publicly? Come on. No professional should have to deal with that kind of bush league crap.

You are kidding yourself if you think that. In a league where Derek Anderson, Shaun Hill, and Jimmy Clausen have starting spots, McNabb will have more than a few options if he hits the open market.

we could always look at the idea of another Eagles QB

let's really piss off those Eagle fans and have both Vick and McNabb in B&G next year - Danny can afford it

i would've rather kept Campbell.

that's right, i said it.

McNabb's abject atrociousness the past few games has enhanced my respect for Campbell's ability to at least look somewhere between "mediocre" and "decent" with an even worse o-line last year, and an even worse running game, and a supposedly lousy offensive scheme/playcalling. right now our QB play is better than Arizona and Carolina... and no one else springs to mind immediately. it is abhorrent.

his passer rating on the season is 29th in the league (the only players below him are Alex Smith, Brett Favre, Derek Anderson, Matt Moore, and Jimmy Clausen).

don't get me wrong, i love the long ball, but hitting a few of those per game isn't making up for him being completely terrible at everything else.

Hill is in for an injured Stafford and Jimmy Clausen was drafted to be Carolina's future at qb. Neither of those teams would be interested in McNabb in the offseason.

I was very proud of Mcnab vs Titans. If he can put quarters together like this the rest of the year, then I am thinking this just might work out after all. I was disappointed in the fact we couldn't score more TDs but the effort was there for 4 quarters from this man. This is what I expect and even more for giving up 2 draft picks. Excellent!!!!

Another 350+yard game... Ill take it. So what is that more then JC ever had as a skin? Lol the qb debate is so tiresome especially since Campbell never was that good not will he be. He's a backup. A sexy rexy minus a superbowl appearance. Mcnug is our man and is doing pretty good w what he got where's room for argument

I don't think anyone was saying Campbell was better. I think they or I were saying if we aren't any or just slightly better off then what was the point in spending draft picks on this guy? Lets face it. #5 has put up some numbers but this was the first game all year with maybe the exception of the Texas game that he was someone to feel comfort with. He could hit the long ball but until this past game he struggled being accurate in the ball control pass game. Not so great with medium passes either but he finally put together a real game minus the touch downs of course. Win or lose I still would have been proud of his performance.

this dude above reminds me of a guy that was on here when I signed up. His name was like Beetleskin or something like that. His spelling errors were terrible. Maybe he just reminded me of Beetle juice from Stern and his name was something else. I haven't seen him since, but he always made me laugh.

obviously i'm very pleased McNabb turned it around and had a good game, and i give him credit for that. but i can't help but wonder if this kind of thing is an example of the maddening inconsistency the Philly fans got so fed up with despite the good things he did there.

There's one around every once in a whaile these days, that's the best. I could look up his ID, but it's pretty garbled too, so I'm not going to bother. I think most of the regulars know who I mean.
