Skins Need To go 6 and 2 What needs to happen??

Post by Zoneblitz »

The Redskins need to basically go 6 and 2 for the last 8 games. What must change for this to happen.

1. Skins must commit to stopping the pass.
2 Landry, Rogers and Hall are good -- Skins need much more from from Kareem, Reed and Horton. The corners must absolutely take chances and trust that the safeties are in place.
3. They must also zone blitz a lot, which is the whole reason you go to a 3 4 to disguise your blitz packages. (That still can be 4 coming and 7 in coverage)
4. Roydell, Armstrong and Banks basically need to play way above their skill set, because or running attack looks marginal at best.
5. Donovan needs to revert to his old days and always pose a threat to run to boost this marginal running attack.
6. They must be super solid on special teams.
7. They need to be excellent in penalties against, particularly those devestating holding calls when your or on your opponents side of the field

Or deep in your own territory with little time on the clock and behind on the scoreboard.

We don't NEED to 6-2 in the 2nd half. 9-7 probably gets us in, so 5-3 might do.

According to the Washington Post, Banks had knee surgery and will be out for 2 - 3 games. Anyway, as a punt and kickoff returner, I think Banks as exceeded expectations.

Perhaps because of the Central and West Crew are weak. As it stands I expect Green Bay and Seattle to win division with wild cards coming from the East and South. Currently that puts the Skins up against Philly, Tampa, New Orleans, and Chicago. I think 9 and 7 will be tough to get in. If some miraculous way Skins can keep winning division games particularly the two left with the Giants Skins could really be in good shape

9-7 will get us in. There hasn't been a single year in the last 5-6 seasons when that wasn't the case, IIRC, but for some reason every year people come on THN saying that 10-6 or else we're out.

Even if we get in — I don't think that it's likely — I highly doubt we have much of a chance of going beyond the divisional round. Still, I guess it's better to be in the playoffs than not to be.

9 and 7 did not get any team in the NFC in the playoffs last year (2009) The only reason it got a team in in 2008 is because Arizona won their division at 9-7. The Redskins will not win the division at 9-7, so it will of course have to be a wild card, which we got in 2007 at 9-7. That of course is high risk and low odds

I'd be shocked if Seattle won that division. They are an awful team. Then again that is an awful division. I think the Rams are coming out of the West.

it would be great to be in the playoffs but we just need to continue to focus on winning the next game

we don't need to do anything but beat the Eagles

you cannot 'plan' on anything - all these guys have to focus on is trying to win the next game - there is not a game on our schedule that we 'should' win - we are not that good a football team ... yet
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
