Randy Moss?

Post by spudstr04 »

Randy Moss has been waived by the Vikings just weeks after Minnesota traded a third-round draft pick to the New England Patriots for the receiver, the NFL Network reported Monday.

Following the Minnesota Vikings' 28-18 loss to the New England Patriots, the Vikings receiver announced that he would not be answering any more questions from the media for the rest of the season.

Moss had not spoken to reporters since Oct. 13, taking a $25,000 fine from the NFL for failing to cooperate with the media. The money didn't sway him to open up last week in the days leading up to his return to New England, which traded him to the Vikings on Oct. 6.

"I got fined $25,000 for not speaking to you all. Me, personally, I really don't care," Moss said. "But at the same time, I do answer questions throughout the week. For the league to fine me $25,000, I'm not going to answer any more questions for the rest of this year. If it's going to be an interview, I'm going to conduct [it]. ... I'll ask myself the questions, then give y'all the answers. So from here on out, I'm not answering any more questions for the rest of this season."

In four games with the Vikings, Moss had 13 receptions for 174 yards and two touchdowns. The Vikings were 1-3 in those games, including Sunday's 28-18 loss at New England.

The Vikings have given up on Moss just four games after acquiring him for a third-round pick on October 6. After calling out the coaching staff in his Sunday night press conference, Moss refused to travel with his teammates to Minnesota, instead staying in Boston with his family. He's now subject to the waivers process, with any team claiming him on the hook for his $6.4 million salary prorated over the rest of the season. The winless Bills have first dibs, but are not expected to bite. Moss indicated Sunday that he'd like to return to New England, but the Patriots are last in the waiver order. NFL Network's Jason La Canfora mentions Indianapolis and Washington as possible destinations. We'll know by 4PM ET if he's been claimed.

He's piece of crap, a locker room cancer, blah, blah, blah, but I' like to see him come to DC. Maybe they'd get a few good games from him before he turns on them too. At this point I'll take anything to jump start the offense.

So was T.O........but I'd still love to have a WR of that calibre play for the skins.. Now we just need a QB, right?

I would go for this...I think he and McNabb could have good chemistry. We need something more on this offense, even when the line holds up better than it did this past week; it's just plain stagnant.

I would normally say no to this but we would obivously be able to get him for next to nothing this year and really at this point couldnt hurt..

we are on a bye week too so it would give him a slight chance to learn the offense and rest up heading into the 2nd half of the season

He's worth it given that he won't cost a draft pick and cannot be worse than Joey Galloway and Roydell Williams.

CLAIM HIM!!
SPIT HAPPENS!!

He's worth $6.2M pro-rated this year if picked up on waivers.

He may be 33 years old, but he can still play. He keeps his body in tip-top shape a la T.O.

How does this work? He is worth 6.2M? I don't understand. Can you or someone explain it in layman's terms?

Waivers is a system from worst to first where the teams can claim him for his current contract. His contract this year is for ~$6.2M. The year's 1/2 over (or close to it) so they only have to pay the games he's going to play for the claiming team.

If he clears waivers, he's a unrestricted free agent, and he gets whatever the team who he signs with gives him in a new contract.

I do not think that this is a good pick. He brings on too many distractions.

We have enough player and coaches issues to add another one.

But hey, the FO might be as desperate as you are and they might think that this is worth it. I just do not think that this guy has any loyalty towards anything or anyone other than himself.

Very doubtful the skins get any shot at him. We are in the middle of the waiver wire and a team like the Bills etc. with worse record will prolly get him.

However, we should put in a claim and I would like to see moss as a redskins.

I also wanted T.O. and T.O. is killing it again in Cincy looking like a top 5 WR still.

But didn't some of that get "shaved off" by the Vikings?

That's why it's pro-rated for the games he will play with the claiming team. Whomever signs him will be on the hook for approximately 50% of that contract, or however many games are left.

According to a tweet:

The team that claims and acquires Moss on waivers would be on the hook for a $3.38 million remainder of his $6.4 million salary. According to Darin Gantt of the Rock Hill Herald, the Panthers are unlikely to show interest.

I look at it this way. He can't hurt. Bring him in for the rest of the season. If he brings the cancerous crap in, he is gone after the season. If we bloom, we sign him to an extension. Can't hurt to bring him in for 9 games. RM and AA on the outsides with Tana in the slot. We might actually have a dangerous tandem. Ala "the Posse"

All they do is copy of each other. Jason reports something and everyone retweets it as truth trying to build credibility. It's a joke and I often tweet them and call them out on it. LOL
