McNabb says offense ready to 'explode'.........

Really.....wow...!!! OK, well let's put this into action. What..! It's a slow week of news.

Washington Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb had an awful day Sunday throwing the football, but he insists that things are about to get going with this offense. McNabb had a 56.8 quarterback rating against in a 17-14 win over the Chicago Bears.

"If we could bring everything together, really we'd explode," quarterback Donovan McNabb said on his weekly radio show Tuesday on 980 ESPN. "I'm distraught. I'm upset because I know we can play better."

I don't see many signs of the Skins' offense exploding because the line doesn't have a lot of stability right now. But if Ryan Torain can continue to have big days, Washington will remain in games. McNabb was worried in training camp about how long it might take to feel comfortable in Mike Shanahan's offense. And that's still a concern.

McNabb doesn't think the Skins have caught a lot of breaks on offense.

"I think in this game that we play, you have to have a little bit of luck," said McNabb on Tuesday. "I've been on the other side of the ball where it seemed like the ball never bounced our way. ...Every now and then, you need a little bit of that. As you look across the league, you watch different teams, teams have that as well. It just so happens that we were able to get that a couple of days ago. The thing about it is, we're 4-3. No matter how you look at it -- if it's ugly, if it's pretty, if it's appealing, whatever it may be -- we're 4-3, We're No. 2 right now in the NFC East. We're in great position."

You being from DE your cynicism to McNabb probably comes from being in the Eagles region. But, I have to say that despite his seemingly poor games I do not doubt for one second this team would be far worse than 4-3 without #5.

And you're basing this on what exactly? In our four win the victories have been driven by the defense primarily. In our four wins we have scored 13, 17, 16, and 17 points, respectively. In those games we're given up 7, 12, 13, and 14 points. Yes, some of these games we would have lost year for sure. However, I attribute the wins to Shanahan, not McNabb.

I must have missed Coach Shanahan tossing that TD pass to Armstrong.

Seriously, we have an insanely thin O-line. Our starting RB didn't even play in the league last year. Our #2 receiver is 40 years old. We have the 31st ranked kicker in the league. And the Washington football braintrust want us to complain about Donovan McNabb??? Give me a freaking break.

Absolutely true. After a 4-12 season we're 4-3 against just a flat out brutal schedule and this year our D has not been shut down like last year. JC did enough to lose, McNabb does enough to win. It's a world of difference.

The offensive line is playing better than it has in either of the past two seasons. These are pretty much the same receivers that we have had the last few years. And the receivers have actually been getting open. McNabb just hasn't been able to hit them with any consistency. Our receivers are doing fine. We're four deep with quality guys who have been getting open, and I'm not counting Galloway. I also have to defend DMac. Sure, he's a bit eratic, but the problem is the OL...always the OL. The OL is terrible. It's the OL. Four of the five shouldn't be on the field and the fifth one is a rookie-- and not a great rookie as the PR machine would have it. Williams, at this point, is only an interesting prospect. He gives up sacks and pressures, might be injury prone, and opens few holes. He and Cory, together, are doing next to nothing for the ground game. We can run right, not right. Maybe someone has noticed.

Strong running game and a stout defense is essential for us to go to the SUPERBOWL (oh yeah a good kicker) to overcome his decline and our other weakness that make him look even worse (oline, wrs)

Were 4-3 people...what low expectations yall have. Were on pace to be 9-7 a familiar record that we had with Gibbs, and almost with Zorn one year. If we had a young buck at QB it would be all and dandy but to me it is SUPERBOWL or bust once again like it always is with our win-now management.

You realize if we're going to go for young players we need a QB or they're not going to develop much and even if we get a good young QB they're going to need a mentor? We have up pretty little for a starting QB for several years with the ability and success McNabb has. If we're going younger (which I hope we are) he's still a perfectly logical choice.

I don't think anyone expected the Redskins to be Super Bowl contenders after a 4-12 season last year, I think many expected us to go 7-9 or 8-8 and miss the playoffs (which probably won't happen now.)

What the big difference is though, is that we're taking steps in the right direction. So far Shanahan has drafted a top flight left tackle when there were "sexier" options on the board. He traded draft picks for a standout RT (who is playing through pain, and not 100%) and a franchise quarterback who is an excellent leader (but who still needs to learn the system.)

We've also got Bruce Allen and a strong defensive coordinator with head coaching experience. Shanahan is a great personnel man on the offensive side of the ball (look at what he did in Denver) and Has I'm sure has input on defensive players. Bruce Allen has made some good moves in the past, and his strong point is contract negotiation. For the first time since Snyder took over we have a strong front office and some credibility.

I fully expected to be a .500 team this year before we could add more pieces and really compete for a title. Things at least seem to be looking up. We've came close to beating the defending AFC champions, we've beaten Dallas, Philly, and Green Bay. This team looks tough, and will only get better.

I agree...He is having an awful year but some is do to offensive line and some is do to just a bad year and new system. I think he needs to get benched for a game. When this was done in Philly he came out of it a new man. Just my opinion. He isn't all that bad and isn't all the great either even at his best. What makes me mad is as an Eagle he shined on national tv. This year he is flopping. Maybe he has lost it but I am thinking that he needs a week to reflect on what he is doing wrong.
