The hillarious story of one fan's upgrade!!!

Post by wormer »

I split my seats with another guy. Here our upgrade story.

I call over to the ticket office last week to check on our upgrade chances for the upcoming season. After some back and forth I am basically told we are not going to get one this year. I was disappointed but with God coming back, what else should I expect.

So...You can imagine my curiosity when on Saturday I see a letter in my mailbox from the Skins. I open the letter and to my surprise I see that we have, in fact, been selected for upgrade!!! Oh man! I am pumped. I read on.

After reading the typical form letter BS I get to the good stuff. Our NEW seat location.

I see the section... ok calm down, it's the same as before but hey, no big deal it's not a bad section, it's just that we are in row 26. (4 rows from the top)

Then I see the words that make my blood boil. "New Row....(Drum roll please)...25!!!!"

THAT'S RIGHT...ONE FREAKIN ROW!!!!

They sent me an upgrade letter for one stinkin row and moving TWO seats closer to mid-field.

Amazing. Part of me thinks that this was a joke by the folks over at the ticket office.

"I'll show him who's boss. I'll get him all excited with the upgrade letter then burst his bubble by only moving them one row! HAHAHAHA~!!!!!!"

I bet they all got a good laugh out of that one.

Baby steps...baby steps…

At this point what else can I do but laugh???

Hey man, you may not like it but its fair. People who have had season tickets for years are still waiting to be upgraded to better seats. It's a system baseed on senority and it works.

I would agree with you JonC56 that a senority system is the most fair. In fact I am upset becase I belive this type of system very well may NOT have been used this year. I would bet there are plenty of NEW ticket holders this year that got better seats than I have.

I have no way of proving that but I can't belive it's not true. With about 4500 new "normal" seats being installed, I find it a little hard to belive that this signifigant # did not create a cascade of folks getting better seats. As folks upgrade their seats then open up for others to upgrade, and so on, and so on....

In addition (and this is one of the things that is so frustrating) the ticket office works under a cloak of secrecy so you have no way of knowing if they are treating everyne fairly.

They refuse to give out much information on anything related to upgrades. It seems like they have a firm policy of "No comment" when it comes to these issues. They may have been burned in the past or something.

I just have a hard time trusting them since I know they have made mistakes inthe past.

Wormer,

I agree with you 100% about not trusting the ticket office... I'm not saying that dealing with the demands of 92,000 people should be easy, but I still don't think they have the slightest idea what they are doing.

For example, I talked to the biggest idiot on the phone today. I am a new season ticket holder and although I am not complaining about my seats in section 405, I wouldn't mind moving closer to the 50 either. So after seeing posts today about old ticket holders receiving updgrades (especially in sections closer to the 50), I thought I would call to see if I could grab their old seats.

So like I said, I called and asked if I could move over to an old season tic holders (who just got updgraded) old seats... from the dead silence on the phone, you would have thought that I asked this girl to explain nuclear physics. I could tell that the girl had no clue what to say or how to respond.

After a minute, she said that their old seats had probably already been given out to the new season ticket holders. So I asked her how, since the new season ticket holders received their seat assignments a month ago... wouldn't this mean that people had the same seats, I asked... no response.

I have also heard time and time again that people have done what they ask and put in a written request to upgrade tickets, but that when it comes time to upgrade, it seems like they flip a coin to see who is called... in addition, I have heard that some people maybe just luck out by calling the ticket office on a particular day and that written requests don't really help much.

Who knows, maybe I'll call back tomorrow and get moved over... I just wish it didn't appear to be so unorganized and seem to benefit someone who lucks out over the phone one day instead of the person who follows the written updgrade policy and patiently waits for 4 years

As a first year holder (this current year I mean), i'm just happy to be in the stadium. When I got a letter back in Feb. I was offered up to 6 seats. Then last month I got the letter which I knew would come, saying that due to the second coming of the Almighty one, tickets are scarce and I could only get 2 seats instead of 6. So doing what any good person would do, I snatched them up called my in-laws and gave them the bad news. ;)
Then today I got the email saying more seats have opened up and if we want the remaining 4 seats we can buy them.
I called, and now have 6 seats in 3 rows up in section 417 rows 29 26 and 27. I'll be the guy sitting on top of the lights with the oxygen tank in one hand, a cold drink in the other and a huge redskin grin on my fat goofy face.

Same letter 5 rows up...It's a start. If Spurrier had stayed we'd be downstairs!! But we wouldn't have Gibbs...can't have it all!

Do you guys know of a good FedEx Field seating chart? One that shows how many rows there are and the seating numbers?

There are 29 rows in the upper deck. Seats numbers go 1 through ? left to right in the section facing up.... here is a virtual seating chart:
