Do you think Albert should have played against Green Bay?
No disrespect here at all........everyone grieves differently but MANY NFL, MLB, and athletes from other sports play through tragedies such as these and dedicate said contest to thier lost loved ones usually a father or grand parent or whatever and not a half brother.
So i created the poll....what do you think?

I think as a star football player he couldve played in honor and memory of his lost brother..
No need to play it down or church it up a brother is a Fn brother no half or step bs get real.
That said I think he shouldve like favre playing for his dad but as said everyone grieves differently so who are we to judge?
On the other side of the token he couldve been a beast in memory for him and breaking out of his sluggish start. What's done is done I hope he gets pist from not playing and shows up big this week!

Note that thia was 3 days after the actual death, not this past Sunday. Anyone who thinks he shoulda played vs GB has no compassion or no family IMO.

I think it's a personal decision that Albert had to make. If he wanted to play to commemorate his brother then he should have. If he wanted to be with the family then that is what he should have done. I personally would be with my family during the time of grievance.

I don't "blame" him for not playing, but it would have been a chance to show he's not a hack who considers us no more important then a job at McDonalds and once again he passed on showing any commitment to us. So I voted he should have played. I'd have been better with it if he didn't take every opportunity to tell us how unimportant we are to him and the $100 mil is really not a decision factor even though he passed on the chance to walk away. Albert is in it for Albert, that's it.

The people who said he should have played need to get real.
His brother died. A much younger brother who, by reports, looked up to Albert, lived with him in Tennessee, and had a father/son relatinoship with since the REAL father was out of the picture.
To say that he should have gone down there for one day to kiss his mom, identify the body, and then come back here to play 15 snaps, you're being unrealistic.
Albert probably is the breadwinner of that family and not only had to mourn but had to actually coordinate and pay for a funeral.
I can't believe this poll isn't unanimous. Then again, yes I can.

My point was that he takes every opportunity to say we're not a priority. To ignore all that really makes this a non-point. If you disagree with a point then actually addressing it makes the rebuttal a lot stronger then responding to only a slice of it. And I seriously doubt he coordinated the funeral. I'd bet big money he didn't.
I did not criticize him for a couple weeks because of the funeral. His brother dying is sad, but it doesn't excuse the rest of his pathetic behavior. The point you ignored...

when you are paid as much as he is, he should be playing. Family is first, but you still need to honor commitment to the team. He was given a leave of absence and that was fine, but from what I understand was he took a few more days after the allotted time. Shanahan preaches dedication, commitment and perseverance, whether he agrees with that or not he should start doing it.

This poll isn't about "the rest of [Albert's] pathetic behavior" that's the point you ignored.
You'd bet "big money" that he didn't coordinate the funeral huh? I work with professional athletes, trust me, their families ask them for EVERYTHING that costs money...not just tickets. None of them probably even have 5-10 grand. Let me know how much "big" money you'd want to bet.

This poll is about the Green Bay game. He wasn't required to return to the team until the day after his brother's funeral. So, he couldn't have "stayed beyond the allotted time" to miss the Green Bay. He returned 2 days after that funeral, instead of 1 day, which might explain his deactivation for Indy. But, this poll isn't about the Indy game, or Albert's contract. It's about GREEN BAY. That's what makes it so ridiculous.

I have no problem with him not playing...
Albert had a choice... and, as far as I'm concerned, he made the correct one, when he left to attend to his family in Tennessee. He and his family have my sincere condolences.
I think it's sad that the choice to play vs the Colts was taken out of his hands by the coach... but I wasn't there... and don't know the story.
Perhaps, he can play this Sunday, with a little extra fire in his belly.
But, consider the plight of many in our military, who routinely, because they are in difficult deployment circumstances, have no choice. They often do not get the option of attending the funeral of a lost loved one.
This happened to someone I know very well, following the loss of his grandfather, with whom he was very close. I know it was difficult for him, but we all understood. It does color your perspective on what's really important.
Albert did what any of them would do... it was the right choice, with no doubt. He belonged with his family.

I didn't ignore it at all, I answered the question and explained it. I said it's like everything else he does, it's another chance wasted. I realize you're a lawyer, but I addressed the point and explained it. In a court of law, maybe you can say you can only answer a question without an explanation to convey what was not meant, but you can't say that on a message board. Sorry. I even said had he not taken every other chance to tell us that I'd have been better with his decision. I don't even think he thought about the team or playing, he's self absorbed.

You are too funny. You said he coordinated and paid for it. If you think they are the same, why did you say that? I didn't say he didn't pay for it, I said he didn't coordinate it. im sad alberts brother died too......but i think the reason he was benched for indy was BECAUSE he skipped GB and he decided to put his personal situation above the team as he has done ALL ALONG.......thats exactly why he cant get out of Shannys Doghouse.......as said most guys dedicate the game to their loved one who dies and play like hell for them.......thats he kind of guys Shanahan wants on the team.......not that hes not compassionate just thats the the cut of dudes jib.......and why i thin k he sat al for indy
me.......i play the game for my team family and dedicate my performence to my lost one.....thats just who i am........Al......not so much.

Easy to make that call, when, in fact, it WASN'T you... and it WASN'T your Mom who was suffering.
I expect the Bears are going to catch Albert at a bad time...
You have no idea... nor do I. But, I'd never be so quick to pass judgment on someone who had just suffered such a loss.Al......not so much
