MN Loves the Skins!

Post by MinneapolisSuperSkin »

Just a huge Redskins fan here from Minneapolis. I have been following the team religiously for the past 4 years (I know I've got nothing on you guys). My best friend is from D.C. and turned me on to the team around then. We got DirectTV for the past few years and were able to watch CSN's Redskins programming, and every game. It is great to find a place online where I can talk/read Skins. Around here, it's all bandwagon Vikings fans (gross). Just thought I would say hi, and see if there are any fellow Minnesotans who love the Redskins. We now watch the games at a local Old Chicago, and are trying to get our burgundy and gold ratio better in public.

Welcome north woods'er.

It's a great time to start cheering for the skins. We're on the way up starting the beginning of this year, and if you can survive what happened last year, you'll survive anything. This is one of, if not the best fan bases in sports. Pittsburgh and the packers come to mind as well, but you will see someday (hopefully soon), how loyal and large this fan base is when we get to the superbowl again.

rise up! HAIL
Miss you 21

Well, if anything's true about Redskins fans, it's that we don't have many bandwagon fans at this point.

I suspect there were a few Vikings fans on the Redskins bandwagon for a while yesterday, as well...

We won't confuse you for one of those... welcome to the site MSS!

A good friend of mine is a Vikings fan (from SD, living in DC) who texted me all game long. He was almost as happy as I was.

Welcome, MinneapolisSuperSkin!

I know a guy born in Minnesota who roots for the Skins.

I have former classmates who ended up and Minnesota, and still root for the Skins.

You are NOT alone!!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody! It's been an exciting ride so far. I've always had a love for baseball (Minnesota Twins) and hockey (Minnesota Gophers) but the 'Skins introduced me to a love for football. Between the history, buzz, and fans like yourselves, I can't wait to see what they will do.

As for your friends in MN, how do they watch the games? The reason we cancelled our DirecTV is mainly because CSN up here is strange. For whatever reason, I can watch Sportsnite and Washington Post Live; but they black out pre-game shows, Redskin Nation, and any other show with "Redskins" in the title. Could this be a DirecTV vs Snyder battle or what is the deal?

I get Directv, but miss all of the pregame and post game stuff. But I get that on the radio through 720 in DC

We have a great poster here, frankcal20, who usually streams the game. That's how a lot of us non-DC people watch them.

If I could get plugged into that, I would be very thankful.

If he is going to stream, he usually posts the link the day of the game.

Yo man that's pretty cool !!!

So, just a quick question for my MN brother.. You actually chose to support our team 4 years ago???? Dude, if you became a fan back then, than you are going to love our improvements because for the last 15 years we have been pretty crappy.. LOL

Yeah, getting on board in this era is strange... I guess it was the history that tied me in. It was a great team to guide me through football history and introduce me to the modern NFL. I played football my whole life, just never really watched. Also, in a roundabout way, the Skins started in MN! The Duluth Eskimoes!

How long were they in Duluth?

I guess we're lucky they changed the name - the Eskimo 'nation' would have forced them to after what we've seen here for the past 10 years
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Not sure how long they were actually in Duluth, but to my understanding that movie "Leathernecks'' Was based on the Eskimoe team. We like to think of ourselves as "Redskins North" up here, but I like Eskimoe Nation!!!
