I agree completely and I thought going into the season Freddy was going to be a big part of our O. I don't understand why he's not being used more because he's one of 3 guys on our team who can run routes and catch passes.

He obviously isn't getting it done in practice...

Fred needs to make the catch on the plays he does get first. Cooley absolutely makes that grab in the Philly game. But Chris would probably not have turned back and been in the position to have to catch it over his head while backpedaling in the first place.

Double tight end packages is what I want to see. Yes both Cooley and Davis are not the best blocking tight ends but they are both better then our current wide receivers.

Also in goalline situations I think Davis and Cooley should be in on passing situations.

Well, until Davis can carry out at least one of his resposibilities (catching and blocking) well, I don't care if he sees the field.

You have every right to feel that way. :D

The way I see it is. Why not make our offense as potent as can be? We have seen what Cooley and Davis can do. Putting them both in at the same time creates all kinds of matchup headaches for the opposing defense.

Most of the time they double Cooley with a linebacker and saftey over the top. If Davis is in there, they have to account for the threat he poses as well. Just saying.

couldn't agree more with both of these statements. Davis was perhaps the lone bright spot on offense last year, and seemed to have a knack for getting TDs. let's not forget that so soon.

they need to get these guys on the field.

I didn't watch the replay on that toss because my face was in my hands, but to me, that was on Davis. It wasn't a perfect pass, but he didn't adjust very well. The next morning on Sirius NFL, they were blaming that on Davis as well saying, the rule in the NFL, is that if it hits your hands, you have to catch it.

You want on the field, come up with big catches.

To me it looked like he shoulda run under it instead of doing a pirouette to try to catch it.

Initially, that was my impression, as well... you need to watch the replay, because it would have been a darned incredible catch for him to make. That was 100% on McNabb.

I disagree. He turned around and was backpedaling, when if he had just kept running the route, he could have caught it in stride on his way to the endzone. But I'm not sure what any of this has to do with Devin Thomas playing D on Hail Mary passes.

Well, you are certainly free to disagree... but the pass was behind him, over the wrong shoulder, and high... if he doesn't back pedal, he never touches the ball... same result.

I disagree. If he doesn't backpedal, he finishes his route and the ball is in the bread basket. As a receiver you're taught in high school to not turn like that, you're supposed to just turn your head/body to the opposite side. This was on Davis moreso than on McRibb.

I think Davis's lack of playing time is testament to it.

That was on Davis. He slowed up his stride and then had to jump for the ball. Perhaps the wind carried the ball and he misjudged it. Either way, you gotta run your route all the way through.

+1. Anyone arguing that this was on Davis is just trying to make excuses for McNabb. It was a bad throw, plain and simple.

Well, the former players on the NFL Network disagree with you two. They unanimously agreed that Davis broke off his route too early.

I value Sonny's opinion above that of those clowns on the NFL Network, and Sonny put that throw squarely on McNabb.

Of course he did. I put the throw on McNabb too. It's missing the catch that I put on Davis.

Here's my analysis of the play:

Davis is running a deep crossing route from right to left. McNabb throws the ball high and a little behind Davis. Davis is looking over his left shoulder. He sees the ball coming a little behind him, and rather than switch his head to the right side, which would have also sent him straight down the sideline, he turns back to his left and backpedals trying to make the catch. If he simply turns his head back to the right, he catches the ball over his right shoulder, in stride, on his way to the end-zone for six.

Not that any of that matters anyway; we finished the drive with a TD pass to Cooley, our TE who has the best hands on the team.

In all honesty, it doesn't matter? What matters is that they adjust and make sure it doesn't happen in the future. Besides, the pass was off and you never turn around like that as a receiver. Lets just hope they work to make sure it doesn't happen again this season.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.
