Redskins Making Progress in Deal for Vincent Jackson?

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Maybe ... but then again ... what if it were Jackson in the corner of the end zone instead of Armstrong last Sunday? TD ?

What if it were Jackson in the end zone instead of Galloway ? TD ?

Not that I'm comparing Jackson to the likes of Andre Johnson, but look at how Johnson killed us ... and big tall receivers do offer a great deal of help in certain situations, (especially red zone) and I think that Vincent Jackson would certainly be an upgrade and an immediate #2 next to Moss, or serve as the #1, freeing Moss up to make even more plays.

Now, after watching an interview with Jackson not long ago, I came away with the feeling that this guy is extremely intelligent .. articulate ... and he offered no excuses for the DWIs ... he said it was two huge mistakes that he guarantees will never happen again ... and he was very sincere sounding.

I don't think this guy is a trouble maker either ... I think in this particular case, he's in the right, while the Chargers are in the wrong with this guy's contract commitment measured to his performance.

Given our lack of success in drafting WRs ... I think Jackson could be a real, long term asset .... 27 years old ... 6' 5" and does have deep speed.

I wouldn't trade the entire farm for him ... but a few cows and a couple of acres .... I'd pull the trigger.

Ray, im so wit u on dat

So then what are we going to do when we land this WAY over hyped WR and he gets his third DUI and goes to jell and is suspended by the NFL for a year (after his jail term). The only thing we would have going for us is the chances are he would got popped in Virginia, where you can have like ten DUIs w/o going to jail.

He has had two DUIs he WILL get a third, not might, but will!

This isn't a Andre Johnson or Randy Moss type WR. He is simply not an elite WR and will demand to be paid like one. Heck he isn't even a Santonio Holmes level WR and the jets got him for a 5th!

VJ will be way too expensive in salary and draft picks, is way over hyped, and is a third DUI waiting to happen. WHY ARE WE EVEN CONSIDERING HIM!!!!!

By the Way, Satana Moss would still be the #1, VJ would be Alvin Harper.

You can't gaurantee he'll get a 3rd DUI.

Yes I can. They always get a third.

While you are literally correct, I would say that if Vegas put olds on it it would be like 10:1 and only that low because cops only catch a very small number of the guys (and gals) that drive drunk.

He may not get another DUI, but he will drive under the influence again, if he hasn't already!

Predicting who drives drunk is rediculous. Ya he messed up once probably learned 2nd time I'm guessing was half as faded in fact felt sober and figured he was got pulled over for something else or hit a check point barely was over the limit or right at it. Now he hasLearned his lesson I presume especially with his career on the line. Not to mention I bet he has interlock installed so he can't drive after even one drink. My opinion

He's a jerk, his agent is a jerk, despite the suspension he was holding out to get a 5 year $50 millon deal with 30 million guaranteed. Andre Johnson money ? He's 27 already, so his clock is ticking, too.

Right, you can't predict when / if he'll drive drunk again. He'll face jail time and a year's suspension if he does. Are you willing to bet $30 million on it ?
Plus give up two valuable picks, when we have holes to fill everywhere ?
I'm glad we passed.

Heads up trade for Fat Al would have been fine with me. No picks, though.

In other news re. learning his lesson the second time around:
Tanard Jackson suspended indefinitely, minimum 1 year.

cowboykillerzred - SD wouldn't take Albert b/c they play the 3/4 like us. The only way he would've been involved is if we were involved in a 3 team trade - which isn't going to happen until Albert shows he's not hurt and plays a whole game.

I guess you wouldn't learn from your mistakes then. Generally, FAs that will go anywhere for the money ---- ONLY CARE ABOUT THE MONEY. We need players that care about winning and about the team. I don't know much about this guy but it doesn't appear that his stats are as good as he tends to believe he actually is.

I tend to never want FAs like VJ or AH or anyone that is willing to go to highest bidder if all else is equal. And it doesn't appear that VJ surrounds himself with the right people -- even his own agent is making childish comments about the Chargers -- which may be the dumbest thing you can do as an agent (i.e., basically biting the hand that feeds you). I am sure this guy will have an easy time negotiating his next client's contract with the Chargers.......

All in all we desperately need another receiver, but I am just not sure VJ is worth it.

Every agent out there starts the rumor or pays someone else to start the rumor that the Redskins are bargaining for his player, usually at some outrageous deal. Mostly, it is not true. Yes, the Redskins have done so in the past but this isn't the past. The Redskins big splash in the trade market this year was for McNabb and Brown. Both for draft picks not huge outlandish contracts. If memory serves, the Redskins have not even renegotiated McNabbs contract yet.

I heard there was a third team in the works, but AH wasn't apart of any of the talks... Once PhatAlbert get's his ankle straight he still won't be going anywhere.

Also heard they had a 4 year deal in place with VJ's mouthpeice for a little more than $40M. Buy AJ wouldn't go for it.

Minny offered a 2nd and a conditional and was turned down, they thought the Skins had out bid them. Haven't heard of any offers the Skins have made.

Me Too. Imagine what moss could do if he wasnt getting all the attention from D cordinators. I also kinda agree with skins fan 33 thought.. would be risky that he doesnt get in trouble. Its just that WRs are so hit or miss in the draft, and even the good ones take 3 years to develop. So if we can get a proven GOOD wr instead of taking a crapshoot or long development from draft pick, then im for it.

Good call Canes - I agree as long as the "deal" does NOT include ANY draft picks - you'd agree with that right

I can't believe AJ Smith would rather keep VJ from playing, instead of taking the 2nd plus the rumored 4th that the Vikings were offering. You'd prefer to have someone sit out of spite rather than pay the guy or trade him for picks, either one which would improve your team. That's someone who is taking this way too personally.
