He may not have been in shape, he may have been given a conditioning test that just wasn't that easy to pass, or when he said he'd be in shape he meant he'd simply be better on the eyes (after his weight loss... OK he still looks like a tub of lard, so that can't be it). You say the other D-linemen aren't in great shape but were here.... what were they doing while they were here if they weren't getting in shape?

What the other d-lineman make is debatable because most of the good ones were moved to LB.

As far as stats go Golston was the only DL with more tackles than AH and fat Al had just as many as the guy that plays ahead of him at NT

He's the second most productive DL on the team right now regardless how you feel about him, wanting him traded might make one wonder how you really feel about the Skins

I think he's getting there and that's why he's playing. Then again Chris Wilson only got one snap Sunday night and Alexander was in for more than 40.

Haynesworth will be playing both NT and DE on this defense. At this point he is closer to being in "football" shape than Ma'ake Kemoeatu so it is what it is. Why Bryant isn't playing is beyond me. I believe the Titans made a offer for AH and the Skins counter with something they knew they couldn't get. that sounds like they don't want to trade him.

He wasn't injured, he isn't a role player and he is an order of magnitude better paid then guys you're comparing him to. He played a third of the plays and it's because of his own choices. Collinsworth was talking about how all players run down in their first game because they aren't used to it. But he played in...one....third...of the plays. One out of three. And it's not because he was being "punished" it's because that's what he was in condition to play. Jock was being pretty clear. If you disagree, address it directly, don't just not get what he's pretty obviously saying.

FTR:

1. You only know what is reported so you don't know if he cares or not. That's just your opinion, everyone has one. I'm of the opinion that if he didn't care his teammates wouldn't be so supportive of him.
2. He is a role player and it's a new role
3. He was injured, they just never said what it was.
4. He was paid way too much but that's what Danny does

I've address what he has been saying if you don't get it that's on you.
I also think SJ has made his point pretty clear and didn't need your lack of input.
As far as I can tell Jock thinks AH is a overpaid fat slob that he wish would just be gone, but wants him to earn the money that he took. I'm in full agreement with all of that.

When the Redskins host the Texans on Sunday, defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth could be deactivated, according to Jay Glazer of FOX.

Based on Haynesworth is listed as questionable with an ankle injury that limited him in practice this week.


Although one team source said it is "probably true" Haynesworth will be inactive, another said nothing had been decided as of about 1:30.

It's a valid point nik, but I have a hard time thinking with what we paid him the expectation was just to be one of the guys in the rotation. Then again it wasn't to play "every" down either. So what's the right balance? I think it's somewhere in between.

And why? Listing other players who for whatever reason aren't 100% either misses that they were there doing everything they can to be ready, and AH did everything he could to avoid it. He even got the muscle condition which is specifically caused by not being in proper condition, which is a big part of what the OTA's are about. The other big part regards your point on he's learning a new position, he'd be a lot further along if he'd been there, right?

I'd have a lot better attitude if even if selfish AH centered speak he'd said this isn't so bad and he's going to work harder. But he already told us he plans to slack off again next year and I for one am offended.

The report is that he was yelling in the locker room that he was "F-ing 2 minutes late", so it was probably closer to 5 minutes. What difference does it make? It seems as though EVERYONE except Albert can show up on time. Shannahan is bringing some structure to a team that had ZERO over the past 2 years. I can't tell, but are you in Haynesworth's corner??? It looks like this is the season when Shanahan throws away the players who don't fit. Gibbs did the same thing the first season back, and the team went 6 - 10. They went to the playoffs the second year.

Haynesworth is a talented guy who harms the team. He'll be gone.

The time from when they were hired to now does seem like eons ago. My issue is that this team is not even competitive anymore. 2 of the past 3 games, the Skins have been absolutely torched by NFC East opponents. This team lacks talent throughout the roster; can you name a position that you would consider a position of strength (besides perhaps TE)?

More problematic, I'm not sure that's something that will be rectified. The Skins, as always, do not have a full draft next year to help rebuild. More damning, the evidence to date shows that the acquisitions that Shanahan and Allen have made are not positive. They've made trades that have robbed the team of important draft picks, yet have yielded very little in return. The free agent pickups they made were wastes of money and time. And the trades (for draft picks) and pickups show that Shanahan isn't interested in fixing this thing from the get-go; he wants to win, and win now (else why would you trade 2 very valuable picks for a 34 year old QB)?

And the talent we have isn't fitting in the systems that Shanahan has chosen to run. The 3-4 has been a disaster here; and on offense, it's not much better. The zone blocking system is the no-zone blocking system; the offensive line is giving up more sacks than last year, and the Redskins cannot muster even a mediocre running game. To me, one hallmark of a good coach is adaptability; when the talent doesn't fit the system, you fit the system to the talent. That's just not happening here.

I'm struggling to think of a positive; what evidence do you have that Shanahan is working out here at all? It's not like this team is getting better (as it did under Schottenheimer). It's getting worse. And it's not as if they're using this time to groom young players...as the Redskins essentially have none.

Please, tell me why I should remain optimistic about Shanahan, where to my eyes, nothing he has done to date has worked out.
