Good teams minimize their mistakes OR find ways to overcome them - that group of pukes performed horribly last night and our guys might not have won any of the 'statistical' battles but we found a way to end up winning the game

I really believe we will win 8 or 9 games this year BUT I love the way the guys are trying - there was a lot of attitude on the field last night

I really like Landry (as some here know) but he really would be better IMO if he just played hard and let the other team's players know he's a really good player by his play not by his trash talking - he seems to need to talk too much IMO

GREAT win. Last year or the year before, we lose this game, no doubt about that in my mind. Yes, it was ugly, but a win is a win, especially against a division opponent.

What to like....
1. Defensive aggressiveness. I love that we pressured Romo and didn't run a prevent D at the end of the game.
2. Orakpo...he is a beast. He didn't get a sack but he was the most important player on the field.
3. Cool

ey's pass catching...he looks recovered from his injury and made some big catches.
4. Landry and Hall....both played very well for the most part (although Landry has to stop with the missed tackles) and Hall has a knack for making big plays.
5. Gano...made several big kicks.
6. Bidwell's first half....several punts over 50 yards
7. CP's pass blocking and he looked good in the 4th quarter.
8. Pass Protection....McNabb had time for the most part. Williams got beat bad on that one sack, but overall I thought that he more than held his own against Ware. A lot to like there.
9. Team discipline....when was the last time that we looked like the better coached, more disciplined team?
10. McNabb's running...he was off in the passing game but he picked up some key yards running with the ball.

What not to like
1. McNabb's accuracy...less that 50% completion percentage. These are the types of passing performances that got fans upset in Philly.
2. Run blocking....there were no holes for the rb's to run through.
3. Rabach...Ratliff embarrassed him.
4. Sellers...2 drops. He is the most overrated player on this team.
5. Rogers with another dropped int, and this one almost cost us the game.
6. TE blocking....in post game they showed how the TE's, especially Cool

ey, struggled big time in sealing off the edge on running plays. This greatly contributed to our struggles running the ball.
7. WR's not named Moss....Moss had a good game, but after that it was brutal.
8. Interior Dline/Run D....I think that we were lucky that Dallas didn't run the ball more bc there were certainly holes for them to run through.
9. Bidwell's second half...speaks for itself.

Big win last night ... and something to build on.

The Good: O-line and Portis really did a great job handling the rush packages, and the rookie looked pretty good on the left side against one of the best rushers in the league. Landry played like he had a rocket strapped to his rear end .. clearly Hasslett is utilizing his ability in the right way. Hall is just a flat out difference maker, and he's going to have a great year. Santana still has a lot of gas in the tank, and I expect him to have a monster year too. McNabb ... missed some throws, and is still settling into the new offense ... not a great day for him BUT .. he made enough crucial plays during the game, and avoided a couple of sacks ... and clicked off a good run when needed. Defense has done a great job of not breaking, though I'd like to see a little less bending.

The Bad: the run blocking still looks completely out of sync and not many running lanes are being created and it's hard to pass with no run game support. This showed up big time on 1st and goal at the 5 ... you should be able to pound it in from there, and that would have made it 17 -zip and a completely different game. Run defense also looks pretty suspect, and needs to get a lot more stingy ... too many 6 and 7 yard runs inside .. the down 3 aren't getting much of a push up front. (Haynesworth is really a punk). Since Albert likes to stand alone on the sideline, the Skins ought to put a giant baby crib out there and make him sit in it until he agrees to man up and be a part of the team.

And our punter .... set up Dallas's only TD with a horrible punt, then botched the hold on the kick ... I'd check to see if there have been any large deposits to his bank account recently ... looks like he should have been wearing a blue jersey (one more game like that, and the Skins are going to have to start making some phone calls). No excuse for a veteran to play like that in a big game. Horrible is the only word that applies.

Conclusion: great start to get a win against a good team, especially when not playing at your best ... but must improve greatly if we expect to beat a tough Houston team this week.

In a game that is impossible to make too many predictions week to week, there is ONE CONSTANT IN THE UNIVERSE .... 1) Carlos Rogers will NEVER catch a football ... under handed, over handed, hand off .. if footballs were hamburgers Carlos would starve to death. And I just don't see how an NFL football player can play football all his life and be so inept at catching the thing! What is it with him? It's very frustrating to see him continue to have balls bouncing off his hands when he could have sealed the win last night. I think the coaches need to put him out there with our 3rd QB and just throw bullets at him for an hour every day until he learns how to catch. It's really not funny anymore.

Just to note - Shanahan said last night in his PC - the snap was really high. IMO it should have been caught but I can understand why it wasn't caught. As for Rogers - I think he makes the INT if (I think) Landry doesn't take him out.

It reminds me of Pitt's situtation where Ryan Clark said that every time he's been hurt on a play, it's been from Troy Paulomalo hitting him. Not the other team.

Frank, rogers dropping it had nothing to do with LL. Watch it again, he simply closes his hands on the ball to early. Its mind boggling how inept this guy is at catching the football. Reminds me of the guy from Necessary Roughness.

That had nothing to do with LL. Rogers HAS to make that play. He needs to be replaced in the offseason.

No, no, no. It has been 3-4 years now of Rogers dropping interceptions. You can count on it like you can assume the sun will rise in the east. Other than almost costing the game by dropping that interception he did ok.

Hey guys! Just found this website, and i'm a diehard fan.

Rogers should of made the catch, but we all know he has rock hands, but his solid coverage skills cannot be replaced at the moment. I like Rogers, and he had a great game stepping up in the run and coverage tonight.

All I'm saying is that there is not a single person in here who could make that catch in 10 attempts with everything that was going on - contact etc.

Maybe not a single person in here because I assume most guys on this board are like me, carrying a few extra lbs. from their playing days and are not nearly as athletic. There are plenty of CBs in the NFL who pull that ball in no problem, Hall being one of them. The ball hit him right in the hands, and he played it at its highest point. Doesn't get much easier, unless your name is Larry Brown and Neil O'Donnell flingin the ball around.

Yea, but none of the people here are making millions of dollars to play football. That was a very catchable ball that he dropped. It's par for the course for Rogers though. He just isn't a playmaker.

I agree that Rogers should have caught the ball - at this level and especially at that time of the game, IF you can get your hands on the ball like he did you have to bring it down - no question

however, APART from his lack of ability to catch the damn ball, Rogers is playing the position well

NOTE: we need to do a lot better on both lines in the rush defense AND especially the rushing offense

we are V lucky that the stupid pukes stopped rushing the football because it was killing the defense
we allowed 8 first downs on 22 attempts (we picked up 3 first downs on 23 attempts)

the offensive line has got to do a better job for the running game OR our offense is NOT going to work

the reason for changing to the 3-4 was primarily to create more opportunities for turnovers and to limit the other teams running game - say what :shock:

BOTH of these facts are much bigger areas of concern than Rogers being able to catch :roll:

You need the players to run it effectively, though. Right now, we have three, at best, average dline starting in our 3-4. We are going to struggle against the run this season with Kemo, Carriker, and Golston.

His inability to hold onto the ball almost cost us the game. I'm sorry, but you can't continue to give teams extra opportunities to score by not capitalizing on turnover opportunities. Teams aren't afraid to throw his way because they know that he wont be able to hold onto the ball.

First off, any win vs Cowpukes is glorious!!!!!

I'm not seeing where McNabb had a good game. Less than 50% completion no TDs. Long drives that fizzle aren't good drives. I can't be happy about a win off of flukes and penalties. We have a lot to work to compete.

I was impressed with 'rak and Landry and Hall. Hall has finally started to walk the walk that coincides with the 2 years of talking.

I was disappointed that Thomas wasn't on the field for the offense.

I was interested that the o-lineman were being rotated to stay fresh.

we have to take a win any way we can UNTIL we can get the players to play together - what we have is progress from what we had here last season ESPECIALLY on the O line (Williams and Brown are a plus) AND a HUGE upgrade at QB - at least now we can think we have a chance at winning the game if it's at all close

we were not able to address all of our issues on offense but by the middle of next year we should be a lot better off - for now any win is a good win - I still think we're a 9-7 at best BUT this group is VERY different from a lot of teams that we've had here recently - this group believes that they can beat teams who are better (like the pukes) ESPECIALLY when that team makes as many BIG mistakes as they did on the field and in their decision making on the sidelines

we are VERY lucky but at this stage we aren't good enough to think we should beat many of these teams
we have to be lucky and believe we can get it done

btw - did I mention how lucky we are to have a winning QB

I think it has to do with his practice habits. Kyle Shanahan this week said that DT has to learn how to practice like a professional. Mike Shanahan did praise him for his ST playing during his presser today.

Shanahan said that Dock is clearly the starter, but he wanted to see Corey play some snaps. We rotated guys at RT because Brown isn't in shape yet to play an entire game.

Don't forget the EASY TD pass dropped by Armstrong.

Also, Sellers also dropped a few passes. He had a decent game IMHO.

On McNabb.....no, he wasn't sharp, but I think he did an ok job considering that he's on a new team, in a new system, and missed a good chunk of the preseason. Like CLL said, he also had the td pass dropped. He also extended some drives with his running ability.
