This is the last post I'm going to make in this thread before the Pies game, because many seem to be unable to get past their emotions and look at this situation logically. I think most would agree that AH is not yet in shape to play an entire game. So what? Does that mean he has to sit the entire game or, even worse, be made inactive? Why can't he be used in situational substitutions so he doesn't get worn out? Making him inactive would only prove that he is being punished for not showing up this summer. If that's the case, just come out and say so and let's move on.

Right, people who disagree with you are "unable to get past their emotions and look at the situation logically." I've argued with the fact that AH has of a consequence of his own choice to not adequately work out in the off season set off a chain of events where he as only been fully in camp a coupla weeks. You argue with this nonsense and I/we are the one(s) who are emotional. Got it.

The WaPo and JLC are the ones that put this out there, reportedly by un-name sources and filled the piece with phrases like "it's unlikely Haynesworth would be named a starter for the opener" and "The Redskins could assign Haynesworth to the inactive list".

Is there anything new in that? Is there anyone on this site that didn't say or think "it's unlikely Haynesworth would be named a starter for the opener" after what he pulled this off-season? He didn't show up for OTAs or mini camp, He hurt himself by falling behind in the process of learning a new scheme and terminology. If I had the time I could go back and find quote's from a lot of THN members that has said all of this. For all I know a few of you could be the "three people familiar with the situation" that Jason Reid and JLC are referring to. A few of you take more time looking into what you hear or read than either of them.

We go crazy over reports.... TtiT read this and they think "it's WaPo, there's nothing to it" and they go about their day.

Not playing AH on game day would be stupid, unless he wasn't able to go due to injury or just not up to speed with the rest of the D. Why did they play him a whole game against a gang of guys that are now looking for work?.... Because it was the only game left and he needed the work, plus the new staff only had film from last year

Not playing him in week one and telling the media a week in advance is way beyond stupid, throw in TtiT and you have to make sure it not the first day of the fourth month of the year.

Any article that you read or report that you hear about this will be based on what JLC put out on Saturday and JReid has ran with ever since.
You can believe what you want, here's a few things to think about....

1. JLC talked about AH being inactive week 1 BEFORE the Card's game, JReid ran with it on Saturday morning although the team didn't hold practice until after it's scheduled 1PM start time and the press was locked out.

2. From start to finish there hasn't been a name attached to any source's statement unless the statement was "no comment..." or "we have to wait until we see the film"

3. Guys like CanesSkins26, Deadskins, Scottskins and KSF can get into debates about articles from WaPo and JLC (after he moved on to NFLN) and the debates are more factual and better researched.

this situation has to change.

As fans we don't get the whole story, we read what is printed, hear was on the radio, and see what's on tube. In fact it should all be disregarded....

The printed story is someone else's opinion, tainted with whatever bias that they may have against the team, the organization, or players. Some writers are just too lazy to earn a full day's wages and make it up on the fly.

Talk Radio has airtime to fill, so a lot of what is said there is pulled from the printed media and the internet. In this day and age many of those on the radio are actually beat writers moonlighting

What we see can't be debated... can't take much from it either as it is the pre-season.

As far as Fat Albert goes, it goes all the way back to before he was signed by the Redskins.

The media king in DC is WaPo... the big gun is JLC (cause he got a NFLN gig) although Sally is more brutal she rarely is picked up nationally (JLC with the Redskins Insider tag worked wonders with "google" and "Bing" search enginges). Now whenever Jason reports on the Skins it is presented as "NFL network reporter AND former Redskins beat reporter". Fans hear this as a guy that is on the inside of the Skins organization.

JLC as a Redskins Insider stated that it was no way the Redskins could sign Fat Albert, because they needed to retain Hall, get a OL in free agency and resign the other players that were getting ready to hit the market. When he was proven completely wrong, he wrote that the NFL was looking at tampering charges against the Skins. Fact of the matter was the Titans would have had to bring that to the NFL (they didn't). That didn't happen and JLC continued putting it in his blog until the league and the Titans started wondering if it had any wieght to it. It was later shown that not only was there no tampering but the Skins weren't even the 1st team to contact his agent, nor did they offer him the most money. There has been no explanation on JLC FALSE reports to this day, however Jason has never had anything positive to say about AH since he's been in Washington. He points out every chance that he gets that AH missed 4 games last year while getting paid $100 mil. To this day this so called insider has stated the real facts. I pointed out the $100 Mil was really just $48 mil over 4 years before the deal was even signed. Here's another fact that we don't see much of.... Big Al missed 4 games but only one Redskins DL played more snaps than he did last year, Orakpo played more downs but some where at LB.

BERNIE'S BOTTOM LINE: "Hey, Hey, Hey, Fat Albert Plays on opening Day (night)" according to someone familiar with the situation, speaking on the condition that his name not be used

That's a very well thought out post - there are a lot of facts that you bring back into the light of reality

I'm just disapointed in this guy and really just want to focus on the now

this guy took the 21 mil and then indicated that he and the defense would be a lot better off if he did not attend OTAs and got himself ready to play this season

we hear that he was not happy about the prospect of playing in a 3-4 and that he was hoping that he could get traded

I think when it became obvious that he was not going to get traded it also became clear that this guy is not really motivated by actually playing but more by being paid to play AND that he was not doing much about getting ready to play at all either for us or for anyone that might be interested in trading for him

we now have arrived at a time where I don't think that this guy helps by just being on the field because someone else is going to have to 'cover' for him - if he's not ready to play then he shoud be put on the inactive list

if he's able to play then they will play him - this is very simple

BUT there should be no doubt about the type of person and player this guy is and I just hope that he's treated accordingly by both the fans and the players

Haynesworth is a loser, BIG TIME

It's funny how a rumor is made out of nothing and fans react to it like it's fact. Now the WP has sources that are saying the guy is going to play. Panties are bunched up over stuff that's not even TRUE. Shanny said that Albert made progress in the last preseason game. Some of you guys will just jump on any bit of negativity and ride it into the ground, now it's coming out that the stuff was blown out of proportion. SMDH

Albert Haynesworth on way out?

By Chris Mortensen ESPN

Exhausted by the distraction and lack of effort from Albert Haynesworth, the Washington Redskins have once again gauged trade interest in the defensive tackle from his former team, the Tennessee Titans, according to team sources.

It is at least the second occasion the Redskins have had discussions regarding Haynesworth with the Titans since Mike Shanahan was named the Washington coach.

The Titans definitely would welcome back Haynesworth, a team source said, but maintained that the Redskins' asking price was still too high. The Redskins are believed to want at least two draft picks for Haynesworth.

A Redskins spokesman said he was unaware of any trade discussions involving Haynesworth but sources say the dialogue occurred over the weekend.

Spinning rumour is what most media outlets do for a living. And you know what? People love it !!!

Just check the amount of emotion, number of posts and controversy produced by most rumours in any political, social and sports reports.

We would tend to think that people LEARN after being used once or twice but no. Snake oil is alive and well. All "news" organizations and individuals need to do to make people forget about the fraud of the last rumour is to come up with new ones ... every time.

It works that is why it happens over and over and ...
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Just saw this as well on twitter from several outlets. Hoping we do a player for player trade instead of draft picks. Only reason is b/c draft compensation this year seems very weak.

On the trade talks. If they aren't getting at least a 2 & a 3 (and they won't) then I say they play the AH.

Albert Haynesworth trade in the works?
We were hearing buzz Monday about the Redskins again revisiting the possibility of trading defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth, who has continued to stir frustration in the organization.

ESPN is reporting that the Redskins and Tennessee Titans, Haynesworth's former team, are http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5542035 in trade talks. This is not surprising based on what team sources told us on Saturday about Haynesworth's performance in the preseason finale. People who reviewed film of the game described Haynesworth's play as "awful," saying he showed little effort and did not follow the principles of the 3-4 defensive scheme.

Haynesworth also angered coaches when he did not attend a halftime meeting to discuss defensive adjustments and review photos of the Arizona Cardinals' blocking schemes. In fairness to Haynesworth, one of his teammates said, the two-time all-pro is especially intense during games and has never attended halftime meetings because he prefers to remain focused on his duties. The teammate added that although Haynesworth did not appear especially sharp on film, his performance, in large part, could be attributed to the fact that Haynesworth is a nine-year veteran who participated in 49 of 55 plays during the fourth, and largely meaningless, preseason game.

On Monday, a league source surmised that the Redskins have resumed trade discussions with at least one team because Haynesworth participated in few plays during practice Sunday and Monday as the team began preparations to face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night at FedEx Field. A team source said Haynesworth met with Coach Mike Shanahan in private after practice Monday at Redskins Park.

Shanahan, who has player-personnel control, passed on an opportunity to trade Haynesworth before the draft, a league source said. But Shanahan his reached his limit with the ongoing Haynesworth drama and seems ready to make a move. Owner Daniel Snyder, however, already has paid Haynesworth $32 million for essentially one season of work, and he may want a major say in what happens with Haynesworth.

How likely is it the Haynesworth will be traded? It depends on whether the Titans are willing to offer enough compensation to allay Snyder's concerns about having paid Haynesworth all that money -- which includes a $21-million bonus on April 1 -- and having received so little in return.

Don't count out Detroit either. they would love to have Suh and AH next to each other if the comp. is right for them.

Word on the street is we're asking for 2 picks.

I'd rather he went to an AFC team, even though we have to play the Titans this year.

I'm not worried about him knowing our team, I just don't want to have to face him but once every four years. Contrary to popular oppinion around here, I still think the guy can play.

No matter where he goes odds are he won't play due to injury or won't play a lot of snaps so I'm not too worried about facing him.

I'd give him up at this point for a luke warm cup of coffee! We need to cut our losses with this clown and give him up. If they offer a 2nd or 3rd round pick, he should be outta here!
