week 1

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

week 1

Post by hailskins666 »

michael pittman was suspended for 3 weeks by the league. the suspension is due to a 14 day jail sentence where pittman rammed his wife's car with his child inside with his hummer, and found guilty. so he won't be playing for the bucs for the first three weeks of the season.

gives us another slight advantage in game 1. :D

Well, despite Gruden's love affair with Pittman, it looks like Charlie Garner (D.C. area native) was going to be the starter regardless.

Still doesn't hurt though...

Maybe Gruden does have something to do with it, but he's still a damn fine coach, and anyone who can't/doesn't want to play for him doesn't deserve to.

it's about time the league started doing this. maybe after a few suspensions around the league, players will realize they aren't above the law.

Yeah, it's great that they're cracking down on attempted murder with a three week suspension. Just think, if he lit up a joint instead he'd be out for four weeks.

HUmmm that seems like a double standard Steve. Atheletes are branded and talked about negatively all the time, but we(society) are not allowed to do the same thing to a coach, even when the majority is against them. It sounds like we are not allowed to question authority even though that authority maybe wrong.

I would not say Gruden is a Damn fine coach, he is a good coach. He has been with organzations that have had good talent. I dont think he could have done with Bellicheck done last year in New England when half his team was on IR.

1. You're right, I don't think he could have done what Belicheck did. In my opinion, Belicheck is the best coach in the game today.

2. I don't understand your first point. Society isn't allowed to bad mouth coaches, even when the majority is against them? Who is the majority? Why isn't society allowed to bad mouth them?

Coaches are scapegoats all the time. Let's look at our two franchises. Why have we been bad recently? Bad coaching. Not bad talent, bad coaching. Who's at fault? Dave Campo and Steve Spurrier. I don't really see the double standard...

it's better than nothing. although one should consider the possible drawbacks; maybe potential nfl players will start looking at playing other sports instead, such as baseball, where you can freely beat your wife, as long as you don't hit her with your pitching hand.
