Who Are Your Choices for the Redskins Six WR Slots?

I think a lot of guys are confused here about Banks. Yes he is small, and because of that YES he may be a 5th or 6th receiver, most likely 6th.

The issue here isnt how well he will play WR but how much upside does he bring to the team on KR and PR. If you can get away with keeping him at 6th, then he will most likely never see the field during a series.

Where can you keep a skill player without having to make him a vital part of the game plan?

Yeah, how many times did Rock Cartwright see the field as a RB? We kept him on the roster as a STer, not for his running abilities. Desmond Howard made a career as a return man, so don't tell me teams won't keep a player just to return kicks and punts.

The difference is that Banks wont return kicks, only punts. He hasn't returned a single kick in the two preseason games. If you look at who is getting the opportunities, Keiland Williams, Austin, and Thomas appears to be battling for the kick returner job. I don't think that they keep both Austin and Banks, and considering that Austin can return both kicks and punts, I think that he wins the job in the end.

You could say Thomas only b/c he doesn't show up anywhere on the stat sheet. Same for Roydell. Banks improved the 2nd half but had an awful 2nd half. Armstrong had some ST tackles and one catch for 10 yds. So who knows.

Based on the interview that they just did with Armstrong on NBC it sounds like he is the #3 receiver at this point. I think that his spot on the team is pretty safe. Also looks like Galloway is going to be on the team.

Banks had a mixed review tonight. It is clear that they are looking hard at him. They let him return KO's. They had him running lot's of routes. He showed that he can catch. He showed that he is durable and didn't get hurt even on the KO. I think it comes down to what the Shanahans think they can do with him this season.

The fumble hurt, but at least he didn't just drop the ball. It ws stripped which even happens to the big guys.

Banks is not fumble prone.

My thinking on Banks is that he's so fast that you design plays for him just like they do in SD for Sproiles. Yes I know that they play different positions but if you have talented players who can help your team win, how can you let him go.

I think there's a lot in common between Banks and this kid Dexter McCluster in KC.

Analysis: Who knew that leaving Malcolm Kelly off the roster two months ago would seem somewhat accurate? He hasn’t practiced since the first day of training camp. Furrey’s concussion sent him to injured reserve, Armstrong has been a standout, Banks has shown burst on punt returns and Austin survives as a depth guy.

Malcolm Kelly will be worked this week. There is press that both Shanahans love him... I have a feeling that , if he doesn't embarrass himself this week, he makes the team... just my gut.

That probably leaves Brandon Banks out... so, unless they keep him just for teams, he's gone. I love his speed, and I love his fight... but he needed to pull down that pass that he was called for PI on last night... if he stays with the pattern, and doesn't divert to lean on the CB, he probably pulls that down, and is off... and locks a position down. Is that correctable? Sure... but, he won't clear wavers to make it to the practice squad. Some team will claim him. That's too much speed to ignore.

Austin- I know he was a draft pick but what has he shown? not that good at KR/PR and has not caught many passes. I'd put him on the PS.

If WR's come free midseason, we might ditch Kelly or Thomas and sign a proven Vet. Hopefully, LJ or Fast Willie will have a monster year and Shanny/Allen will deal them out for a good WR. Hopefully lol

If you have that much talent, you've got to take 100% care of yourself. Massages, stretches, strengthening, etc. He needs to understand that this is his job and he needs to work at it year around. It doesn't need to be physical year around but his body is going to need work year around.

I really love what he can offer to our team and I hope that he can put it together this week. Even if he get's hurt again, he needs to battle through it if possible.
