Fat Albert had rhabdomyolysis...whatever that is...

What a break for Shannahan. He can help turn us around and doesn't need to suck for a few years to clean out the cap. What a break for us all. Now, we just have to not do it again...

He is bitching about not being thrown into the starting rotation with this attendance? Who here is in favor of him getting the nod? Good grief

I liked how Fat Albert was whining the Skins hadn't fully disclosed what's wrong with him.

"Fat Albert has a condition that fat, overpayed lazy athletes who dog it all off season and they think they can just turn it on in camp get. Once he gets his fat butt in actually good shape, if that ever happens, it won't be a problem anymore."

That sounds so much better then he has a headache, I see why Fat Al was having a cow...

Seems like the latest event in the Haynesworth saga is that the Skins' PR guy Zack Bolno was axed.

Anyway, back to Fat Albert, did you see this piece by Sally Jenkins? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 02581.html

thanks cville - I thought this was pretty apropro:

"Haynesworth has flunked every test of fitness and dedication that Shanahan has issued so far - and the tests weren't that hard. He was merely asked to do the following: get in real shape, run some shuttle sprints, practice consistently, and divert some of his colossal commitment to himself toward a group effort. He couldn't do any of it. He flunked the sprints, developed a condition called rhabdomyolysis probably because of severe muscle strain or dehydration, and played exactly two partial, undistinguished, half-effort preseason games with the second team before he threw a tantrum in which he accused the team of minimizing his ailments and basically said, "I'm so special I don't have to earn it." His exact words were, "I'm a ninth-year pro. I don't think I should have been out there in the third quarter."
You know what I think? A ninth-year pro should have figured out how to train and hydrate by now without a team trainer handing him a bottle with a nipple."

ROTFALMAO

I normally don't have much nice to say about SJ - in this case she pretty much covers it
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Y'all know how I feel about Haynesworth...

That said, if his issue was rhabdomyolysis, that's one of those things that can be very dangerous, depending on the amount of muscle damage involved. You don't mess with it. In it's most involved forms, it causes severe kidney damage.

I see a few of you... Mock all you want... but, if I'm Albert, I'm not messing around until the doc says go.

This reminds me of the boneheads who were mocking Jason Taylor after his run-in with compartment syndrome. Man was probably within 12 hours of loosing most of his calf... if not his lower leg... but people mocked. Smart.

Whatever. That was then. Albert's physically ok now... needs to get his butt to work, and knock off the egocentric kindergarten whining. Awww... Coach didn't coddle you ... whaaaaaa... coach called it a headache... bawwwwwwwllll... coach made you play in the 3rd quarter.... boooooo hoooooo.

Grow up, dude... that stuff needs to stay in house. Time to earn some of your money. And, it would be nice if you made some effort to earn some respect...

I hear you Trey and it's a good point. But to be clear, I don't think anyone was mocking him for not playing through the injury. One of the causes was listed as people not being in shape suddenly exerting themselves, particularly in extremely hot weather.

While to your point he certainly should have treated the condition seriously, I don't think we seriously need to let him off the hook for the crock of dung that he was working with a personal trainer and didn't need to be in the OTAs or that he plans to skip them again next year. The situation was clearly that Shanahan was right and he's a boob. While to your point the medical condition is like JT, but the cause of the condition has no correlation to the JT situation at all.

and trey, the word is that professional athletes usually never get rhabdomyolysis. albert has now had it twice in his career.

on another note, as far as this year not counting towards the cap. I've read that part of the reason the titans didn't wanna give chris johnson more money this year was because the next cba is supposed to include retroactive clauses that would penalize any crazy deals. cutting the 21 million dollar man would probably count towards that part of the cba...

Actually, the had a doctor on 980 today and he said that rhabdomyolysis is primarily seen in athletes.

No matter what kind of rhubarbitis he has, his attitude sucks to begin with. You're too good too train with the commoners and need your own personal trainer to NOT be fit for training camp ? Don't give a damn about team cohesion, Mr. 9-year pro ?

Sounds like a case of JaMarcusRussellitis to me. Delusions of grandeur with bouts of acute lazyness brought on by outrageous paydays.

Yes, but ones not in top shape who suddenly exert themselves, like our own beloved lard butt who practices when everything's perfect and he's in the mood

Haynesworth is VERY dumb but he's making a very big mistake if he thinks he can get to play how or where he wants to play as opposed to what Haslett and Shanahan want him to do

the first thing that Haynesworth needs to do is to get into football shape and then he has to show he's really into what is expected of him AND at whatever position they decide is best for this defense - UNTIL he really buys into ALL of that he's going to be watching here - mark my words - they are NOT cutting this guy

this is where Haynesworth is making a big mistake - he thinks he's bigger than the coach - BIG MISTAKE

going to be interesting to see how the press conf goes - Shanahan will be V classy as usual :D

Shanahan is showing a lot of smarts in handling this -
it has been reported that he's met one on one with the fat man and I think he's now 'positioning' a way for Haynesworth to show up and practice AND also get the media 'reports' out of the loop

sounds like he was just a little dehydrated from is 6 days of part-time practice this year... I'm glad he's already decided to work with his "personal" trainer again next off-season instead of joining the team... this way he won't be in football shape until halfway through the season... maybe that's the key to making it through a whole year...

The reason fat Al got the 21 million that he was already guaranteed (but at a later date) was so the Skins could turn his contract into a one year deal with options that only FA can execute. But if he executes the out, he has to give back most of the 21 mil.

I think what they did will survive any retro CBA scrutiny, because they didn't give him a new deal or more money, they just made it so all 21mil counts this year.

I hate when the idiots on the radio say, "They shouldn't have given him the 21 mil". BA and MS didn't given him the 21 Mil, they just gave it to him earlier than he would have normally got it. DS and VC gave him that money! BA just took advantage of an uncapped year, to give the team more flexibility with the AH if they want to punt him.

I think he's practiced all week. I'm hoping that talk he had with Fletch, got his head straight.
