Shanahan, QBs, Good Schedule, & McNabb = Oh Yeah.

I am so excited about Mike Shanahan and Donovan McNabb I can hardly sit next to myself. Shanahan has been very solid with his quarterbacks as everyone here knows. How good? Since 1995, Shanahan's quarterbacks have produced 14% above the league average. The average statistical finish of Shanahan's quarterbacks is in the top 10 for each season.

How your QB goes, so your season goes! What I like best about Shananan is his winning track record since he became the Broncos coach (1995). John Elway helped get some of the biggest wins of his career, but Shanahan also won a lot of games with some less-than-stellar QBs (Jake Plummer, Brian Griese). Heck, Shanahan even went 4-2 with Gus Frerotte and 2-1 with Chris Miller. Reference: Pro-Football-Refernce.com McNabb is a great NFL QB, so it only makes sense that McNabb and Shanahan will help bring some joy to the Redskins.

For us to have a successful season (And I REALLY think we will), McNabb will need to produce (And I REALLY think he will). Based on last season's stats, we have the best schedule in the NFL for producing passing numbers in 2010. Reference: FootballDocs.com

I just think we have some great things coming (FINALLY) in 2010. I am pumped for the season. I still kind of hope we swipe Vincent Jackson from SD, but that might be too much. I think my wife would have to up my medication at that point.

Obviously we could use a WR I was a TO hopeful (him and DM were hooping it up jus before he got signed)but VJ sounds good to me! I still think westbrook in the back field on third downs could be helpful. Better then Johnson lmfao

I could be wrong but I don't remember any superbowls when Shanahan was coaching with a quarterback other than Elway. I do remember Elway in SBs long before Shanahan became head coach.

You know everyone always says "Shanahan has never won since Elway left". Well I always say Elway never won until Shanahan and if he hadnt come in and brought that run game Elway and Marino might be one in the same.

How do you sit next to yourself before you got excited about Shanahan and McNabb? And while you were sitting next to yourself, what did you say? Not you, I mean the other you.

I share your optimism about the season, but I guess I will believe it when I see the results reflected on the scoreboard. We have been bad, mediocre, or so-so for so long that I can no longer remeber what it was like when we were steamrolling opponents back in 1991.

Offensively, I think the biggest story of the season will be McNabb-Cooley.

Defensively, I think that we will see a statistical dropoff, but a big increase in big plays -- more interceptions and more sacks.

Shanahan will bring a very different approach to both the players and his assistant coaches - and will demand accountability for both your attitude and your play on the field - this will be, I believe, very evident as Mike seems to want to 'manage' the scene here with a very firm grip on everything Redskins


Kyle Shanahan and Haslett are the keys on the coaching staff IMO - Kyle will be facing a bit of a battle without a very good offensive line and with what appears to be an aging RB group and some big questions around the WR group

IMO, Haslett will be in a little better situation as the reports from TC so far seem to have the defensive players looking forward to the 'new' system and all seem to be anxious to show that this unit can be very good defensively

We are shortly going to see how much of a turnaround we have made both on and off the field here but I believe these players and coaches are enthused to show that this is a group that will fight for respectability here again and that making the playoffs is again in our future - maybe as soon as 2011

Now that we are hearing that Haynesworth acutally says he is liking this defense, you have to surmize that it is going to be incredibly aggressive. I love an aggressive defense... and can't wait to see what it is that Albert thinks is going to maximize his talents...

I hear you trey - kind of a shame that he didn't make more of an effort to be a part of things here earlier - he seemed to think that he knew better about both what he needed to do to get in better shape AND that the 'new' defense was not good for him

hopefully he was wrong about both and he has a huge impact defensively


this guy has a lot of bridges to mend and needs to show that he wants to be a team player - I might change my mind but right now after how he has behaved I would hope that he can be an incredible player AND we get a lot for him

Did you forget scheme? perhaps that's what you meant when saying Shanahan but I like to seperate the two. Having a bonified HC does help a lot, but having one with a bonified scheme is the other half of the battle.

I hear you guy on the "I know John Elway, and Sir, you are no John Elway." skit for McNabb. Fair enough, but you can always throw out there how many Super Bowls did Elway win before Shanahan showed up? (I know not a real argument.)

I just like the fact that McNabb has had success in the past and so has Coach. Together I think they both still have some in the tank. I think it will be impressive to see how well our defense plays now that they think that have a chance to win a lot of games. Winning attitude is contagious.

As suffering Skins fan, I could use some of that contagious winning attitude myself. I don't have it yet, but I am running a slight fever.

From what we have gathered so far (admittedly from "reports") it looks like the players are buying into what is going on with our team - AND I really think we have a lot bigger chance at success when everyone believes that they can win - I really think that this can happen with the players and coaches that we have now

I think it's going to take a little longer than many here but I do believe that we'll see a group of players and coaches with a lot better attitude on the sideline and on the field than we have seen here for a long time


I agree, a winning attitude does breed success and these guys seem to be buying into that
