8 Wins

Post by ThePickman »

The early line has the Skins at o/u 8 wins for the year. I can't say I can find 8 wins on the schedule. I think 6-7 is more likely.

I think I can easily find more than 6-7 wins on the schedule. Look, the Eagles are going to drop off a bit this year. Kolb is getting way too much respect and honestly I see bust written all over him. With the additions of McNabb and now Jammal Brown the Redskins have solved their two biggest weaknesses from last season.

They have a proven winner at QB and a solidified offensive line. I mean think about how much better the line looks with Williams and Brown at the tackle spots compared to Heyer and Levi Jones last year. Plus I think the competition between Hicks and Mike Williams for RG will help the O-line a lot.

The Giants don't impress me and they seem to be on the way down. Plus every game against the NFC North is winnable this season. And the Jaguars and Rams are very beatable. So let's say we beat everyone in the NFC North except for the Vikings. That's 3 wins. Add in the Jags and Rams makes 5. I think with McNabb we sweep the Eagles. That's 7. Split with Dallas and New York. That's 9 wins right there.

Colts will probably be a loss and the Texans are going to be a lot tougher than in recent years. But the Buccaneers aren't ready for the big time yet. All in all, I think we will be one of the NFC Wild Card teams. Add in the fact that we have Mike Shanahan as head coach versus Jim Zorn last year and I think that upgrade alone is worth 4-5 more wins from last year. This isn't a 6-10 Redskins team.
Go Skins!

I'm thinking 8-8 or 9-7 record and that is very good considering the product we saw last year

anyone can look at opponents and predict whatever, mostly wrong in my opinion - the reality is that more often than not the better teams lose games that they should win - actually I would venture to suggest that every season better teams lose more games to 'weaker' opponents than you would believe

I think we win 2 more games than we won last season and that we do not lose 2 more games that we could have won - so with that 'logic' - 4 wins becomes 6 wins AND of the other 10 games we only lose 7 or 8 giving a W-L of 8-8 or 9-7

see - that was easy
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

10 wins is realistic for me. This team was competitive last year despite the disfunction. I expect the addition of stability and offensive leadership to make a big difference.

Honestly, I think the Skins will be one of the two best teams in the NFC East.

I'd guess 8-8. We should be much better offensively, but our schedule is absolutely brutal.

To be completely real, I have serious doubt us winning week 1. We're still going to be gelling week 1 with the strong turnover we've had and TTiT, as much as I hate to think it, is formidable the first 17 weeks of the season.
...any given Sunday....

Vet!?!?!... No sir, no way, no how, not happenin. Our guys will feel that "new" electricity coming from the stands bro and they will rise to the occasion! Donovan is going to tell them right before our first offensive drive "we must beat dallas.. lil ray-ray from the barbershop already told me about the pure hatred this city has for dallas moreso than any other nfc beast team".. That lil speech will create the energy in that huddle and we'll gel instantly!!!

... or we could lose and I'll probably break my big screen in the process, thus nominating me for the biggest loser of fans

With all the additions on our offense, this team is not just going to run out of the gates. It is going to take time for this team to gell. We have a very difficult schedule. I would say that a 7 win season is the most realistic. If the team stays together in year 2 and we don't have any major injuries, then a double digit season is possible. I don't know how you could think this team could be in double digit wins in their first year of assembly (without drinking the kool-aid), otherwise.
RIP Sean Taylor. You will be missed.

No way we lose to Dallas. You guys must be drinking the Kool-Aid. Dallas is easily the most over-rated team in the league.

They've still been solid the first 17 weeks, as I've already said. They always play us hard. I just don't know if we can muster that much steam for week 1.

Clearly you are just stating the ridiculous to provoke a response.

We appear to have fixed the three largest problems on the team. Snyder has stepped back, let's hope he stays there. And Allen and Shanahan are massive upgrades. I like the moves on the Oline. The offense should be better, but it's still missing some important parts. They only have one WR, and the RB's are all in decline. TE is the strongest position on the offense. On D, they haven't brought in a safety to fix last seasons huge problems with deep balls. Orakpo could get 20 sacks. The defense likely takes a step back, at least the first half of the season because of the learning curve.

I think the coach, QB, and Oline improvements add 4 to 5 wins, but the transition to new systems on both sides of the ball and the issue at saftey costs us a couple.

6-10. If everything goes perfectly, they could get to 9-7, but the team is still too flawed for more than that.

The position that concerns me most is NT. If Kemo isn't healed, he have major trouble there.

I think I heard a rumor somewhere that they are considering, maybe, possibly, play some guy called fat albert there.....

Or they could let Mike Williams back into the McDonalds and he could play it.

But yes, I agree, if Kemo isn't healthy, they may not have anyone to play the nose, which is key in a 3-4. Maybe next years first on a nose tackle? Then a center/guard in the second.

We lost 7 to 6 in Dallas last year. We will see, but of all the games on our schedule, Dallas at home isn't what jumps out to me. The Colts, Packers, and Vikings look more daunting to me than Dallas. We might have the worst offseason reputation, but Dallas isn't far behind. Paper champions.

I think we are predicting stats based on proven disappointment and being realistic. 10-11 wins. a strong win against Dallas to start will help. That my opinion. May be overstated.
