I really can't be bothered with the World Cup right now. In that respect, I'm taking my lead from the England team. When I was born, England were world champions. In the forty plus years since then, I really don't recall such a shocking performance as I witnessed against Algeria last night. It was so bad, I can't even get angry about it - I'm just utterly demoralised, and numb.
As of today, the REVISED World Cup odds per Ladbrokes:
Argentina 7/2
Brazil 4/1
Spain 5/1
Germany 7/1
Holland 7/1
England 10/1
Italy 14/1
Portugal 33/1
Mexico 33/1
Uruguay 33/1
Ivory Coast 40/1
Serbia 50/1
Chile 50/1
Ghana 80/1
USA 80/1
Switzerland 80/1
Paraguay 80/1
Denmark 80/1
Japan 125/1
Korea Republic (South) 150/1
France 200/1
Slovenia 250/1
Nigeria 350/1
South Africa 500/1
Greece 500/1
Australia 500/1
Slovakia 500/1
Korea DPR (North) 2000/1
New Zealand 2000/1
Honduras 2500/1
Algeria 3500/1
I tend to agree more with these rankings than the previous ones

Yes, they can and the best matches among all teams still await us.
Why are you shocked??? Algeria is a hell of a good team. Their defeat against Slovenia was a fluke! They dominated most of that game. They just got a bad break.
This World Cup is very exciting because I do not remember a more EVEN tournament ever. ANYBODY can win it (almost anyway).

AGREED !!!
You were ROBBED !!!
Pathetic officiating in SEVERAL games.

My team and the WHOLE of this continent is doing GREAT.
Almost EVERY team from this continent might make the next round. Honduras might be the exception but I know that they are capable of much better than what they got so far.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that point. Algeria are an average team. The fact that they looked at least as good as England suggests that England is an average, or below average team.
Then again, it isn't just England who are struggling - Italy's result against New Zealand today may be even more shocking (although I didn't see the game, so I can't judge the performance). Germany and Spain have had their troubles, but they've both played well enough to be more confident of further progress.

Of course, the poor Koreans will probably be told that their brave boys fought to a 0-0 tie.
Man I didn't see the game but I saw the score and I just gave a pity chuckle. After I thought a little more about it, I got all political and REALLY LAUGHED MY BUTT OFF!!!
Will you still be laughing when they launch a nuclear strike on Portugal?
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom – for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.
This is a HUGE achievement by the USA and we have only one post???!!! Incredible.
Argentina is very strong but I am not sure that their coach is what they need.
The new odds (24 June) in case anybody cares:

Gotta like Brazil. They have shown the killer instinct from early on and always seem to get better, relative to their competition, as the tournament progresses. Personally, I like Spain's style of play, but I don't see them overcoming another blah game.
Two days from now, though, the US gets their chance to exact some revenge on Ghana. I have not forgotten '06!
Brazil 7/2 +7
Argentina 9/2
Spain 9/2
Holland 6/1
Germany 10/1
England 10/1
Uruguay 16/1
Portugal 22/1
Paraguay 28/1
USA 33/1
Ghana 40/1
Chile 40/1
Korea Republic (South) 50/1
Mexico 66/1
Japan 80/1
Slovakia 80/1
There might be a surprise or two though ...

I'm watching the Uruguay game now, and they look strong. I hadn't noticed them so much in the other game I caught (vs. France).
They made a really big deal about how Slovenia was the smallest nation in the tournament (at about 2 million people), but Uruguay isn't much bigger and they look very impressive.
I'm just posting something here to prove that I don't hide when my team stinks the place out. OK, the "goal" that never was was an utter disgrace, but that just robbed England of a 4-2 defeat. Congratulations to Germany for being able to walk through an open door when they see one.
