Good to hear! However, I really hate this quote from Williams. One of his coaches from Oklahoma had said:
"He's one of those guys, he's definitely not a gym rat. If he was, there wouldn't be anybody even close to him," Schmidt said at the time. "If he really committed himself, it wouldn't even be close. He'd be the best ever. That's how much talent he's got. There's a lot of talent there that he just hasn't tapped."
And Williams?
Williams was unfazed by his former coach's comments, he said. "I wasn't really worried about what that coach had to say. What he had to say really wasn't important to me. I mean, obviously, it wasn't important to Washington, either. You going to always have people who got their opinions. Obviously, what he was saying didn't match up to what was being produced on the field. And that's why I went where I went."
I just think that's such an immature response. "Yeah I got drafted high, I got paid, so coach's opinion must not mean anything." Williams needs to take a good look at Jamarcus Russell as a guy with a ton of potential, who got paid a ton of cash but didn't put in the work needed to become a great player.
