Were that the case, he would have been cut at the same time as Thomas, Betts, etc.

The basis of the arguments against him. It always cracks me up how when people argue against some people's position they like to attribute "anger" to it. I know it's the in thing in our society today, but it's still a self serving lack of insight fulfilling a need to demonize people who have a different opinion. You're not just wrong, there's something wrong with you!!!!!

I don't care either way, it's the anti-Colt fans that would be in agony. They get so mad over something that doesn't even effect them.

I'm a anti-Colt fan, but IF he makes the roster it wouldn't cause any agony. Colt won't make it on the field in 2010 after the pre-season ends

Sure Chris, have it your way. We are "angry."

Does that make you feel better? People who actually recognize that Colt was a sixth rounder who went to a nothing school and got cut last year for special teams depth aren't saying he's nobody and mocking the people who still think he's Tom Brady, we are "angry." Here you go, I'll do it again...

What s schizophrenic group of "fans" ... busting the kid's stones at every opportunity, WHILST making every excuse imaginable for the messiah Jason Campbell.
Can anyone actually say that the kid has gotten a fair evaluation given that it was Zorn's incompetent staff that was doing it?
And this BS about being a "system QB" is rather lame when looking at the numbers this kid generated.
He's a gamer, and a winner ... and those things are often overlooked when evaluating a player as if you were looking at horses ... pedigree, teeth, size, etc.
One look at Jamarcus Russell will prove that those "tangibles" don't mean squat at the end of the day.
What I saw in Brennan was a guy who can throw a nice ball .. moves around very well, and doesn't get jumpy under pressure, and was able to pick up Zorn's offense more quickly than the other two QBs.
Still, for all practical purposes, he's a rookie ... and has never played a down with or against first team players, so it's just as unreasonable to classify him as a potential starter as it is to dismiss him out of hand. He's cheap ... and the new regime would do well to keep him around for another year to make their own assessments of him rather than dump him for a late rounder who's scouting report sounds like he learned the game of football by watching Jason Campbell.

OK, but I haven't seen anyone I consider "angry" over Colt. Or JC. The only people see I would describe as personally disliking players are guys like LJ who's vermin in his own life or AH who's self centered to the harm of the team. AH may be good enough to still be a special player not in camp, but he'd add more to the team if he were anyway. I don't see the arguments over who's just not that good like Colt or JC as having that personal slant that would make anyone "angry."

Mike has cut a ton of players. Cut a ton of dead weight. He decided to keep Colt. Let's not act as if Mike is hesitant to let go of a bum, he's not.
Does that mean Mike think he's great?! NOPE. But it means that he's not garbage like many hear would lead you to believe.
Will he be our 3rd string QB? I have no idea. I'm just happy that Mike is truly evaluating EACH player and giving them a chance to succeed because that is what's best for the TEAM.

Well Ray, you said Carlos was going to be a special, shut down corner who made us forget Bailey. And you keep ignoring that he couldn't catch a beach ball with glue on his hands. No one's forgetting Bailey, Ray. You were wrong on that one.

And sign Joey Galloway and Darrion Scott who wasn't in the NFL the last two years. You seriously think Colt being on the roster in April means anything?

Good points Ray
CLL.. I'm with you bro
Like I've always said, in Hawaii the kid was a stud. His arm strength was just ridiculous and like Ray said, he really couldn't prove anything with that joke of a coaching staff we had. It does still bother me though that he came into the preseason games vs 2nd and 3rd stringers and really didn't show me he could do it in the NFL. I don't think people are 'hatin' on him but they may be like me and just using what we saw in preseason. Maybe? Heck man I don't know.. I'm just hopeful we can protect McNabb because Rex and Colt honestly aren't my choices for backup.

I see and pay attention to way more posts as you do as a mod. And I have seen people say that they wish failure on this kid. They WANT him to fail. To me, that is disgusting and if it'll irritate them just a bit to see him sit as our 3rd string QB for another year, I'll savor it.

What I want is what's best for the team. I trust Mike to make that decision. If Colt's gone, cool beans. If he's here, cool beans. If he's here and it pisses people off, even better.

U guys don't see half the crap we see cus we have to scour every post to keep things relatively civil. There's an awesome group of mods here. And yes, people wish those things on other people. It's disgusting.
So maybe thats the disconnect, I'm looking this from another angle cus of what I see. I'd love for those people to be proven wrong and eat crow. But ultimately I want wut is best for the team. If I can smugly smile in the face of a hater while the team is improving, even better.

Do I know what COlt will be? Nope. I know MIke will keep who's best for the team and I'm happy with that.

OK, fair enough. I haven't seen that so I took it as directed more widely then it was intended. But the Colt discussion I've seen has been like my view that the guy just hasn't done anything to merit the following he gets. I realize unearned love of the 3rd stringer is a Redskin tradition. But sakes alive, the guy didn't even make 3rd string last year and the flame is still strong.
On that track, my prediction is Colt will be gone this year and Daryll Clark will make it. I like him a lot. As a Big Ten fan I've seen a lot of him. If I'm right this year and he makes it as #3, then probably the Colt fans will be jumping over to his bandwagon, I hope he actually earns it unlike Brennon who's been a two year mediocrity at this level.
Hail to the Redskins!

You sound like you're saying you addressed them directly, but I don't see any reference to them directly on the page. If you are just talking about the part that his keeping Colt means he thinks he's not "garbage" then I'd agree with that, but Shannahan has to put a whole training camp together and while he may not be "garbage" it doesn't mean Shanahan thinks he has much chance of being on the roster on opening day. We need QB's to throw to all the other guys who will be in camp to be covered by other guys who will be in camp. It doesn't mean Colt has no chance, of course, but things aren't looking to good for him.

Colt isn't really here... he's coming back from a injury that put him on IR last year, the same injury that kept him employed.
I think Shanny will give him a look only because no one has seen enough of him to know if he can be a backup or not. I also think when the season starts there won't be a single member of JZ's backfield on the roster unless they have a previous history with the current staff. Those two will have to earn their spots too.

I feel that Mike got those WR's to bring competition to the young guys and light a fire. I addressed that in a separate thread.
I don't think things like any better/worse or Colt, at this point.
