30 for 30: Ricky Williams
If you get a chance, check out the story they did on him. Great story, touching story, great/misunderstood person.
He's a prime example of why I stopped really ragging on players. So many of us tend to just view them as objects of our once a week fantasy world and not as people. I really enjoyed his story.

When I talked to my friend who knows Rock Cartright, it changed my angle towards players. I do have personal opinions, but I try to keep my negativity to myself, b/c these guys are ALL in the NFL, and short of raping/violence/ect, they are all worthy of our respect. I still get caught up in the moment at times, but I try to keep it to a minimum.

I caught about 10-15 minutes of it last night and was riveted. I strongly feel he's a dummy for resorting to smoking pot and let alone what he did, was stupid for getting suspended so many times when each time after the first, he knew he was on a short leash. But it did give me an understanding as to why he is the way he is and it made me appreciate him better because at least he didn't turn to violence as an answer. I tend to go with the Toronto Argonauts head coaches way of thinking when it comes to Ricky now. The parts that I saw of the show were very well done.

You have to watch the entire thing. 10 minutes captures about 2% of what you'll get out of the entire thing. If weed is still the 1st thing that comes to mind after seeing it, then I'd doubt you watched it.
What great story. Imma watch it again.

I did watch it, no matter whether I thought of weed or not. I wouldn't have commented on this if I didn't see at least part of it. I'll still think he's dumb for resorting to that whether I watch the rest of it or not.

I haven't watched it, but I have read his story, and I had a newfound respect for him after I did. I'm gonna try to catch this on him.

And that's all I'm asking for people to do. It was such a great story and he's definitely one of my favorite players after watching it.
It's funny how, forum dwellers are quick to bash a player but when it comes to taking the time to get to know a person true intent and true story, it gets no attention. Not surprised at all.

This is a quote I gave in my first comment. How did I not appreciate the intent of the story? Even after only seeing 10-15 minutes of it, this is what I had to say about it.

I've always like Ricky's laid back demeanor. I thinks he's a pretty cool cat.
Same with the late, great Sean Taylor #21.... He was going back and attending his childhood church, staying home with wifey and child, being a good parent......before he was sadly taken from us. OH.... How misunderstood was ST???
As the pastor eulogized: God took away Sean to SAVE him (for HIS Kingdom, my insert).
back to Ricky, I hope that people start trying to understand this enigmatic man.......... He's alright in my book.

so one person sharpens another.
so one person sharpens another.
