This sounds like a rookie who has no understanding of the NFL talking. 4 or 5 wins based on scheme??? Does he not understand the term "execution". This isn't the NFC West. Man does he sound ignorant.
You have no idea what the intricacies of the scheme was we ran last year. Were you in the meeting room? That whole team from offense to defense were square pegs into round holes all over the field. JC as a west coast QB (scheme mismatch), Laron at FS (scheme mismatch), Albert Haynesworth asked to hold up blockers instead of rushing the passer (scheme mismatch), Brian Orakpo at effing LB (scheme mismatch), ARE as a return man (just plain stupid/stubborn). Not to mention on every 3rd & 5 are DB's were 15 yards off the damn ball and Laron was in New Jersey (insert slant or drag route here)! EVERYTIME!! Now is that coaching/scheme or execution?
This whole coaching staff didn't care what our players skills were. They cared what their scheme was. If a player didn't fit, they thought that they would make him fit. The defense of this team was such a facade of success, we never created turnovers and we never got a stop when we needed it.
Already Orakpo says he going to be rushing the passer a lot more, Landry said hes going back to SS and playing up in the box (even a little LB), they said that Carter would be a better fit here than in the SF 3-4 because they wont ask him to drop back into coverage really. They moved Mike Williams to OG, they traded for McNabb a WC QB. They cleared out all the people that wouldnt fit their systems immediately. Oh yeah, and they've been here for 4 months, JZ, Cerrato, and the coaching staff had 2 years to make any of those adjustments.
So before you sit there and say that "he has no understanding of the NFL" and his expectations in a change in schemes is "ignorant" ask yourself...How did this scheme fit this team?? Who was signing the guys to play in such a scheme?? Also the possibility that execution was hindered by positioning on the field. Maybe he sounds like a guy that knows he couldn't complain about the scheme because of his past and it would have been blown up. Laron when asked recently if he ever lobbied Blache to move back to SS, he said that he did what they told him to do and what they wanted him to do and hes not going to question his coaches. Hes gained confidence in the difference he has seen in the playbook and the demeanor of this leadership and that's good news.
I think you sound ignorant by saying you know more about X's and O's than Deangelo Hall because you don't know how much of a difference this defensive change will make! I would think a guy who has played 7 years in the NFL, who played in last years scheme and is learning this years, has a better "understanding of the NFL" to make a better "educated guess" then you about what kind of effect it will have.

I agree Hall didnt play well at times but who on that defense did besides Fletch, and AC? Yes, Orakpo had a good season rushing the passer but at OLB in the 4-3 he only had 50 tackles! 100th amongst LB's and take out his 11 sacks and that is only 39 tackles as an OLB. He was out of position and he didnt fit the scheme. They didnt care what his skill set was they put him were they wanted him. Cerrato to Allen (builds confidence), Zorn to Shanahan (builds confidence), Campbell to McNabb (builds confidence), executing an offseason that resembles a good organization, such as drafting OL (builds confidence), seeing a scheme that puts everybody in the best position to get that most of them and their skills (builds confidence). I can see where he is getting it from. If you think like a 4 win team you will be a 4 win team. These guys need to erase last year and build their egos on this situation at hand.
Look nobody knows what this year will look like could be great could be a disaster but leave the pessimism and skepticism to us! If this guys sees things going on around him that leads him to believe it then go ahead. I think the new regime all the way from Bruce Allen to Ray Wright is breeding that confidence let it spread! Laron has been talking a lot too, not as brash as Hall, but you can hear it in his voice when he talks about this defense how excited he is. BTW I doubt anyone will remember this come regular season, and it doesn't exactly come across at bulletin board material in my opinion...get the sand our of your virginias
