Chrissy Mauck, of AZCardinals.com, reports Arizona Cardinals RB Emmitt Smith said he received a "big surprise" when the team promoted him to the No. 1 RB position Thursday, June 17. "I never truly expected it because when he first got here, he (coach Dennis Green) talked about Marcel (Shipp) being the number one guy. I'm still fine with that but things do change. This is what it is on June 17 but we have about 90 days before the first game of the season so anything is possible," Smith said.

Chrissy Mauck, of AZCardinals.com, reports Arizona Cardinals RB Marcel Shipp confessed the team's promotion of RB Emmitt Smith to the No. 1 RB position caught him off guard. "It was a surprise but you just have to take the bitter with the sweet and get better. It happens," Shipp said Thursday, June 17. Shipp said the coaching staff did not tell him the reason why they decided to make the move, but added they're the ones that make the decisions and they went with who they wanted to go with. He noted he is disappointed, but doesn't ask questions or look for a reason. He said he plans to do whatever he can to help the team to win. "I just want to win," Shipp stated.

This is just further evidence that Denny Green is the worst HC in football history. It seems as though he's force-feeding himself Krispy Kremes just to add a few more pounds of stupid.

Emmitt's my all-time favorite player, but he's done and has been for several years.

Darren Urban, of the East Valley Tribune, reports Arizona Cardinals head coach Dennis Green said the main reason he wants RB Emmitt Smith as the team's starting tailback is because Smith is a better fit in the team's three-receiver formation on offense. Smith, according to Green, has the ability to find seams and that works well if a defense overloads with DBs to cover the team's trio of receivers.

Sounds like Denny will be pass happy this years ....Fitzgerald will be the H-receiver

Fitzgerld doesnt seem to be the size of a normal H-BACK so I'm thinking Denny has created a postion besides he said 3 reciever formations maybe it's a H-Back in the slot postion?
