Great Start For Shanahan and Allen

Post by KazooSkinsFan »

It must have been torture getting a pick in the first hour of the draft and then sitting on their hands the rest of the night and the next, but this was so right to get us back on track. The only way to get another pick that high was to give up a higher pick next year.

The #3 last year for Jarmon is looking like a good move, picking up a guy who is probably worth a #1, and we had to do something about our dreadful QB situation with the #2. But after that, we need to prepare to have our array of picks next year and beyond to keep the youth pipeline coming in. QB is the one position you just have to do what it takes, and we did.

Also, we are better on the OL. While we would have liked a better RT we are decent now in 4/5 starters and have a couple months of offseason to go. You just can't solve having what we did on OL in one year.

And I love that they didn't panic on OL and ignore the rest of the team. It's not like we were just addressing the OL from the Super Bowl, we couldn't take an OK team and just get the best, mediocre linemen we could and suddenly be good. We took a nice, big, first step towards the future already.

I also like that they are adding discipline and putting pressure on the slackers, i.e., AH and Rocky who are too self centered to be in camp with their teammates.

Great start!

Right now we still have a couple of more picks and Campbell might be
traded for more. I trust Shan the Man and Allen, these guy's have done
alot in the first few month's. I still see them pulling some guy's in after
the draft is over. One thing to remember is Shanahan has always had
8-8 teams or better. Doesn't mean he won't get a flyer but I see good things coming.

Everyone on this team better step up or they will see the door! Rocky's
situation is understandable but he needs to get on with it. Stuff happen's
and hopefully he'll step up, if not; well we will see....

Hail

They've done really well so far (except for the absurd signing of Larry Johnson) with what they've had to work with (i.e. old regime trading away picks, not a great FA class). New era is off to a good start. Hopefully LJ gets cut in camp then I'll be extremely happy with their moves so far.

Good point on LJ. I totally agree with you that would be the one decision they made I'd love to nix.

I don't see why LJ is an "absurd" signing. They didn't give away picks to bring him in or drop a boatload of cash on him. (See: Duckett, T.J. and Haynesworth, A.) LJ either comes in and blows everybody away or he won't make the final roster.

My issue has nothing to do with that, it's that he's a woman beater

It has nothing to do with what they gave up for him, it's about the type of person that he is. Multiple arrests for abusing women, including pulling a gun on his girlfriend and for spitting in another woman's face at a club. At in racist comments, gay slurs, and public criticism of fans and coaches, and you have a pretty sad excuse for a human being in Johnson. Just don't like to see that type of person, talent or no talent, on the Skins.

But, like I said above, it's only one move and OVERALL the new regime has done a GREAT JOB this offseason.

Let's just see how things work out here - the guys that want to be a part of the team will most likely stay a part of the offense OR defense - if some of these guys from the U OR anywhere else think they are a little better than anyone else just because of what school they went to, well this is a different type of franchise - NOW you have to earn the right to play in the NFL and NOBODY is guaranteed anything anymore
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Hip hip hooray!

I am enthused about Shanahan and Allens approach thus far. At first I thought the Williams pick was a reach. Now that we have aquired an additional C and G/OT prospect in the draft. It all looks alot better. Shanny and Allen are sticking to there plan. It looks good so far. I just wonder if any more Oline free agents will be signed.
